NPC Cairn will be hosting the shore to shore swim.

Thankfully, the water was quite calm. With the sunshine radiating down into the quarry, it made the water and the air quite warm, but nothing too hot. Cairn tested the water with his toes and found it to be comfortable. Looking at one of the pools of the quarry, Cairn decided that the point of one of the pools would suffice for a moderate distance swim.

At the shore on the other side was three moonstones of various sizes. It took quite a bit of effort to find them. Their colors glittered in the sunshine as they sat upon leaves to make them more visible. Cairn found extras for those that wanted to take some home with them should they not place regardless. He also made sure that they would be distributed with the prizes handed out before the feast.

Cairn remained in the pools and waited for others to arrive, wondering just how many dared to brave the cool waters of the quarry.
The day was heating up, as was the atmosphere of competition. Ruenna was perfectly content as a spectator for the events of the morning, although when the afternoon's events were announced, her heart did execute some funny gymnastics.

Ruenna had not expected to enter any events as an athlete-- anyone who witnessed her pained, limping gait would understand why. Competitions like the 100 Yard Dash, Tug of War, Wrestling... all of that was out of the question. But swimming? That had been her physical therapy for the last few moons, since the weather had been warm enough for her to submerge in the Caldera's lakewaters. Little had she known that her daily therapy might also double as training for this event.

Rue limped up to the edge of the lake, taking her position with the competitors. She would not make eye contact, avoiding any chance of glimpsing the confused, humored, or concerned expressions that might have met her gaze. She might not be able to keep up with the best swimmers here-- those from the seaside and island packs-- but she was certain she could at least complete the swim.
Oberver. Feel free to skip if needed. Willing to participate if low turn out :)
Calcifer had little experience sparing before the Wrestling matches today. He perhaps play fought with Marble, but they had been so young at the time that likely nothing transferred over into their adult abilities. Regardless the fighting had tuckered him out. He leisurely walked over to the next event. When he arrived he nodded his head to Cairn before walking over to the water and taking a few gulps. It may have seemed out of place as other competitors arrived and readied themselves at the start line, but the satisfaction of water filling his exhausted belly make it worth it.

Calcifer didn't have any intentions of partaking in the swimming event. He didn't dislike the sport but felt his large size would hinder his speed and was more than happy to sit back and watch the spectacle. But once again, like the stones at the femur throw Calcifer's eyes caught sight of the moonstones and walked over to them and thought of Marble.
