teya sat near the turned earth, upon the hillock where brecheliant had laid wraen to rest.
the grief and rage that had consumed her before had thankfully abated; now she only felt empty.
she thought of the storyteller's vibrant smile, of bridget's voice. of the way that eljay had held her.
she thought of ibis, and for once, bringing the guileless face to her mind did not hurt half so much.
this was brecheliant. this was their world. she wanted to run away from it, but more than that, teya wanted to build something in wraen's name, adorn the edges of the woman's legacy with her own effort.
teya lay down alongside the grave, put one paw atop it, and soon fell asleep as the emotions began to loosen in her chest. tomorrow she meant to begin anew. now she would try to dream of wraen, and hope that they might be able to walk together in that sort of world, at least during the time she had her eyes closed.
