kukutux had come to know the twisted, clumsy hoofprints of an ill caribou.

they put up little resistance. and for each she had said a prayer.

her grayfur wrap had been lost somewhere upon the taiga. but kukutux was warm with blood and with the hunt. she followed another trail, muzzle low to the ground.
Aiolos had thought thr Sunset Valley a good place for settlement, though the Moonglow wolves were teeming, seemingly everywhere in the region and more often then not fitted at the side of a Duskfire wolf. The two packs mingled as though they were one.

This time, he walked alone. That is, until the scent of another caribou trail, along with Kukutux, captured his senses. He followed her of course, as he always had. This time, however, he wonders if @Lótëë would not be far, either.
sun man came to her side. kukutux reached to kiss his cheek. "are you pleased that we have come?" she was panting, streaked with mud from her running. but her eyes were clear with delight.

this year aiolos would have two wives who might feel nature's stirring.

she believed that he meant only her for this.

and she wondered what her sister might do.

"already the caribou give themselves to our teeth."
I am enjoying this time with our ally. He spoke up an agreement as he galloped at the side of his mate, the scent of the caribou they were stalking growing stronger, fresher.

They do... He murmured, slowing when he heard the rustling in the brush as one stammered about. I hope we can cull this illness, so that the herd might last through the season.
"i think that this is possible. our village has many hunters. we have more with those from the glacier." there were also the girls who had joined them, many packs working upon the taiga.

she darted toward the staggering animal, worrying its flank with her teeth before she leapt back, circling around from aiolos and matching his strength with her swiftness.
It was true. Moonglow had been blessed with many good hunters and guardians the same, not to mention the different groups of wolves which had come into the area for the season. Surely they could manage to end the sickness for them and the caribou both.

Aiolos' thoughts gone on the manner, he focuses to the sick cow before them. He cannot afford to loose his center especially with his mate at risk. Kukutux dances around the animal, her swiftness snagging and grasping the animals attention. Aiolos grasps for firmer holds and deeper cuts, to pull downward and tear flesh. He reels back when the caribou turns to him and waits for his mate to gain its attention again.

Soon, the animal would loose too much blood and become tired.
they worked in a dance.

her pelt was soon stained in blood.

aiolos was powerful beside her.

their quarry weakened. she did not have the height to pull down its head, and so she cut higher into its belly, digging her paws into the drifts, tail revolving as she fought for purchase on the ground now churned with hot red gobbets of crimson.

it was good to hunt with her sun man.
She moved so smoothly, effortlessly, with the winter winds. So much blood was lost by the caribou in such little time. It breathed heavy and Aiolos panted in turn. A lunge upward and onto his hind legs gave opportunity to grasp the deer at the back of its neck and pull. Staggering, unable to hold the weight of the wolf which hung on, the creature fell. In these last moments she takes her final breaths.
also should we fade this one lol <3

the caribou, downed.

moonwoman watched solemnly as the cow's blood eked against the snowy earth.

"i thank you for giving your spirit so that moonglow may live." her words were a prayer.

and then her white teeth flashed. she and sun man would feast now.
