Maybe @Njord or someone else from Sapphique?

They made good time at first.

Kigipigak enjoyed hiking the snow alongside @Sakhmet and was lost to the joy of it, as he had been during Moonglow's travel to the glacier in the first place. Following the coast was the easy part, but then they tried to cross the ravine and found much of the older paths choked with snow.

It made things tricky. To head north now, towards the tanglewood, meant facing the strong north winds as they billowed fresh clouds and heavier snows towards them. If they went for the mountains, they would have to find a wholly new path and it would be dangerous in other ways. Steep cliffs, hidden pits full of ice - things Kigipigak would rather avoid.

They made camp on the edge of the tangle after some deliberation. Kigipigak did not want to go deep within the woodland in case the pair got separated, and then vowed to find something edible for them to share. This was how he ended up on the edge of Dragoncrest, unaware that it was inhabited until his hunting path crossed with a frozen yellow mark.

He withdrew quietly, with some expediency, although it cost him a lively young buck, who went racing off across the invisible claim line. With a huff Kigipigak began to concoct a new plan of action to keep himself and his lady fed.
a lone figure draped in warm shades of autumn wove among the tangle, stark against the harsh grey terrain. she wore distress plainly on her face, and every so often lifted her muzzle to call out. mireille! she cried. mireille! but her sister did not answer, and no sign nor scent of her appeared.

coraline knew her family had been here already, but she could not shake the feeling that mireille would always find her way back to the sea. it was her birthright, as it was coraline's — as with all of erzulie and rosalyn's children. she would come back to the sea. she had to.

but in the meantime, coraline meant to search every inch of the coast for any sign of her sister. her determination was such that when the flash of a stark white pelt winked through the tangle's disarray, she turned toward the sight rather than away. she pursued the figure, even as it bloomed into something large and looming. a man, far larger than most wolves coraline met. a distinct and uncomfortable rigidity took hold of her spine and neck, then, tingling even as she tried to shake the feeling away.

h-hi, she started, immediately ashamed of her stammering. what would her mothers think? what would mireille think? the sea-girl straightened, and the shyness fled from her demeanor. my sister, she's lost. i be lookin' for her. have you seen a red girl?
He thought the shape that came from further afield was another deer, at first. A wayward doe. Something disrupted and confused by the fleeing buck that had bolted by.

Kigipigak puffed slightly as he watched the shape and only eased when the stranger was close enough to identify as wolf.

They were young, small; he thought of the children within Moonglow with a mixture of fondness and painful nostalgia and hastily stowed the sensations.

The girl greeted him shyly and he was going to say something, but she was not finished. She spoke of a lost sister — a red girl. The only red wolf he could think of was Sakhmet.

I travel with one, he answered thoughtlessly. An akward look crossed his face and he hastily added, but she is very dark, and much older than you. Your sister, she is probably very young like you? His face became pensive.

I have not met anyone like that.
hope kindled and was quickly extinguished as the man spoke. coraline began to regret approaching him. perhaps he could yet be of use in her search; perhaps she could salvage something from this utter waste of time. she nodded to his question, already thinking of what she meant to say next.

her name be mireille, she lives in sapphique, by de sea, she took in a breath, her eyes heating suddenly. she blinked twice, and the threat of tears faded. mireille would return. if you see her... please help her get home.
