They were on the search for territory, and so they went north, following the river. When they came upon trees that seemed to bleed, Violante had to get a closer look. They were nestled in on two sides by mountains, giant sequoia's all around them. Sticky red sap stained their drunks, and Violante turned her dark eyes to her mate. "Here. We settle here." She had never seen something so oddly beautiful.
Resting for a moment, Avery allowed his legs a quick rest while his mate examined a mass of trees. Hopping up as she spoke, Avery moved closer to the trees, they almost appeared to be bleeding. It appealed to Avery in some way.

Looking around at the scene in front of him Avery began to picture his patrol route. Perfect for defense too. Avery started to speak when his female interrupted him. "Here. We settle here."

"You took the words right out of my mouth, gorgeous"
Excitement rapidly filled Violante, and her tail thrashed behind her. "We're actually doing this..." she murmured, casting her gaze out across the forest. "We should go out on patrol, see what the forest might hide." She stood, taking a few steps away from her mate. "We need to make sure it's safe before we move Lorelai here."
"For the record, I hate splitting up!" Growling loudly, Avery turned away from his mate, lashing his tail. He turned to the east to begin scouting that direction. Two quick howls would be the sign he would give if he found something or needed help.

He let his eyes and nose lead him. He found nothing of any real consequence. A few good dens, though. Avery thought to himself. He wanted the safest place for his family.

He would continue searching what he hoped would become his territory until he found something remarkable or he met back up with Violante.
"We won't be separated for long," she told him, rolling her eyes as he turned away from her. She would run north, as she wanted to see just how far the woods extended. The river that had led them here died swiftly, but she found another river along the western edge of the woods, flowing down from the mountain. The river carried onwards into plains, and Violante turned to double back, letting the massive trees swallow her figure.
