the princess was bleeding. badly. her attacker had faded back into the wilds for now, and she was out of immediate danger, but she knew she wasn't safe. she would never truly be safe. and these wounds would kill her if left untended.
she traveled day and night, stumbling and gasping by the time she found what she was looking for. a pack. other wolves. safety. if they would have her. she murmured a prayer and sent up a call; a call for the leaders, a call for help.

since her time with the pharaoh and the queen, no one had seen fit to chain belen quite so tight these days. she had danced from the prince to the priest. and now the frigid outdoors stole her breath. the chill raked cold fingers though her winterpelt. belen dared to leave the greathewn steps and move out into the naked red land. she was alone — but only for a moment. movement attracted her eye. after a second of indecision she moved forward. it was a wolf, and she was crying out. belen moved to help. "calm, now. you are in akashingo. what has happened?" the fellahin pressed herself against the other wolf, tongue swiping the harsh wounds.
