Snow began to flurry as Wayfarer descended the summit and, as she crossed Atautsikut's young borders into the forest below, she wondered how heavily it might coat the earth upon her return. The woods would shield her from the weather for a time.

At once, the rogue lowered her crown. She tested the earth for signs of her comrades having scouted the local area along these unfamiliar trails, but more importantly she looked for the suggestion that outsiders might be close by. Wayfarer was wary of strangers, more so in a new place that she wasn't yet entirely comfortable with.

She found densites along her route, into which the young Duskfire poked her muzzle with caution. There was no wolf scent to accompany them, not even the musk of fox or badger - whoever might've lived there before were long gone.

Did Alphas rear pups in this glade? How old would they be now? Where might they have gone? It was normal for their kind to travel, to up and move when resources ran scarce, so she found herself hoping that they'd been gone long enough for the land to rejuvenate and accommodate her own family's recent relocation.

heda had lived with wayfarer for a while now, had traveled with the other girl, and had come to live here at the summit with her. but still the young hunter was left with the idea that he did not yet truly know the sister of her friend veteran.
she followed.
it reminded her of hunting with witch and druid.
her heart hurt and heda looked around for her favourite prey: birds.
she kept along wayfarer's trail, distracted by the heady scent of pheasants and ducks and geese.
the girl crouched; she stalked along the trail of a lone goose wandering through the foliage, and in a rush she raced through the grass.
it took to the air; heda leapt, snapped, slipped, and rolled unceremoniously down a small ridge, landing with a thud nearby.
She stepped on an old, brittle bone that crunched with ease beneath her toes Wayfarer paused to examine the fragments, and just as she wondered what sort of animal it might've cone from she was distracted by a sudden commotion close by.

The russet youth swung around to face the sound of a honking goose and thudding paws. The startled bird took flight across the trail and a familiar figure swiftly followed, but her pounce was unsuccessful and she disappeared down the slope.

Wayfarer leapt forward to check that Heda was unharmed. Her jealousy over the comradery she shared with Veteran did not mean she wished harm on the other youth, so she lingered with ears pricked at the top of the ridge. "You hurt?"

wayfarer spoke! heda was not sure she had heard the other speak much. "yeah," she muttered sheepishly, shaking debris from her coat. "just obsessed with birds." she made a face aimed at herself and then straightened out her features.
"were ... um, were you exploring? because i can go if you wanted to be, like, alone," heda managed, glancing around so she could squeeze her eyes shut in a cringe at how awkward she was being.
but she hoped wayfarer — more than hoped — wouldn't want her to dip just yet.
