the bypass grew quiet in the fall of night.

she had not seen the wild @Druid in some time. nor had @Sequoia returned yet. two promising figures now missing, wayward from home. which meant these wolves were now down two willing sets of teeth for fighting and hunting.

the odds grew slim the longer they waited — and jorunn was not sure how long she wished to wait. she had spoken of a moon but now it seemed even the ones who lived here and vouched for this cause were growing stagnant.

she closed her eyes tightly and thought of the sea. the rush of it in her ears and tangling her coat.

"i will worry," the whisper of @Erzulie in her ear. "ask for what you need." she continued, the sounds as real as they had been that day.

but the bypass did not have what jorunn needed. blood shed on valley walls was not what she needed. taking from the mouths of those spirit broken was not what she needed.

it was a wild goose chase to be here, she thought, how foolish to go away from home on a noble quest. her blood and bone had ached for adventure so long in her life, it was all she had ever known. it was no longer what she needed. that deep ache for adventure was replaced by something else.

she needed home.

her eyes opened once more, greeted with the soft sounds of an owl in the distance and the shine of stars beckoning for her to follow them.
