The balding hillside didn't have much in the way of cover, mostly close-cropped weeds, which was probably the reason the resident goats enjoyed it so much. There was a cluster of them nibbling their way across the field when Lutra came upon them; so involved in their gluttony that they paid the wolf little attention at all.
She didn't mind that, really. Lutra was more intrigued by them than hungry. The smallest of the group - the newborns - were already racing circles around the rest, while an old ram scowled each time they skirted too near to his periphery.
It was all rather charming.
Lutra watched until the breezy sky became gray, and the blustering air brought with it a change to the scents. She looked skyward to observe things a moment and when she looked to the goats after, they had already made a hasty retreat.
Alone again. She mused to herself, with a sigh and a glance around at the trembling grass.
he had fallen asleep, a light doze in the brief sun. laid away in the grasses, the sounds of nearby goats a mere lullaby. he too had not been hungry enough to even consider going after one. especially not with the ram ever watchful.

but eventually silence swept through and the sound of lambs was replaced by the breeze. a churn of the weather right above him. it was not ideal, but hardly anything ever was.

so he rose from his place bedded down in grasses and weeds, disheveled from the world's least satisfying nap. only to discover that neither one of them were as alone as they thought. while it wasn't as if he had suddenly popped up right next to her, he was aware that he was very easily in her line of sight.

awkwardly, he watched her. as if he found himself stuck in a hallway and scared they would both go the same way.
