He promised he would be there. He promised her a future for both her and her child. He promised so much and yet he was nowhere. He disappeared into thin air as the last bit of sunlight on a winter day. A ghost romaing the plains in search of both the child and the lover that pierced her heart. A liar, a betrayer, falling into the void that was her heart, her soul. She roamed, and roamed, far and wide, away and beyond, everywhere and nowhere. The blackness of the sky filled her heart with sadness and joy, despair and hope, she felt everything and nothing. She felt many things, all at once. He was everything; he was meant to be here, beside her. He was meant to comfort her each night for eternity. Yet eternity is nowhere. What is a miserable, limited life compared to a beautiful eternity, living past these useless emotions? She wanted that; an eternity without emotion in the coldness of time rather than a limited existence full of dread, sorrow and death? A desolate life of hers; everyone she loved was gone. She wanted to cry, cry for the rest of her life, for the rest of the empty eternity she was forced to endure. Black shadows covered her as the female laid down under a large tree, listening to the night sounds and her soft sobs. A pity this was, and a mistake. She chose this life of sorrow and did nothing about it. The emptiness just wouldn’t go away; a hollow space inside, between throat and tail. She lived isolated, building up walls as those around her attempted to either climb them or tear them down. A failure, in them and in her. She could never deny that; she was a failure. A dark stain on the divine dress of the heavens. She was promised so much… So many, she was promised everything, she was promised eternity, and the eternity never came. As the light of the moon pierced the leaves and glowed on her grey fur, Agana turned away and sobbed, succuming to the exhaustion of her body. Hopefully no one will hear her cry.
