today he called for @Sybol. germanicus was upon a patrol in the eastern part of the canyon, down further from the tablinum.

he would take the young man on patrol and ascertain his intentions. the imperator waited silently.
Daydream shattered, Sybol hurriedly stumbled to his feet, quick to heed the Imperator's call. He wasn't far, so it took him only a matter of a minutes to arrive, breathless. Hello, Imperator. He greeted the man with a respectful dip of his head, averting his gaze submissively. He knew now to treat the man with the utmost respect and was trying make up for his past lack of it.
"hello, sybol."

he inclined his head that sybol should come along.

"have you given though to how you will provide for mereo? there is room as a soldier or a skilled commoner."
Sybol followed the large man. I could hunt, or be a soldier if it was Mereo asked of me. It wasn't truly what he wanted, it had pained him watching the goat's suffering more than anything. Which was honestly ridiculous knowing that wolves' gotta eat and all that. But I'd rather study the land. I've been looking more and more at the sky, but if I need to keep my head on the ground I can do that too.
"a hunter of a sort then?" the imperator questioned.

"or do you mean to be a scout and know the terrain? there is also the role of a naturalist. you would work with hunters and soldiers alike to follow herds or discover new land."
A naturalist. He liked that title. He also liked the idea that he'd get to work alongsideĀ  different people. He enjoyed meeting new people immensely, and loved the thought that he might possibly be of more help to Mereo than he thought. I like that I can work with more people that way He smiled eagerly at the man. He also chose to leave out the guilt he felt as he watched the goats final moments alive.
germanicus nodded. "if you have not met the others, soldiers and commoners alike, i mean for you to do that first. once you have made some meetings, i will send you on patrol outside mereo."

his yellow eyes watched sybol to see if this was acceptable.
Meeting new people was right up his ally! It had been a minor hiccup that he hadn't actually sought out others prior, a stranger in a strange place, he was overcome by nerves at the warnings that had come his way. So far though, everyone was really nice and not at all intimidating. Sort of. That sounds like fun, I like meeting new people. Sybol smiled eagerly at the Imperator.
'very well. when you have met three wolves, come to me."

he was quiet for a moment.

"have you any questions for me, sybol?"

he thought of the sparring arena. perhaps the young wolf should be assessed.
I've met Zahir and Towhee so far, they were both nice. Although he was intimidated by Zahir to say the least. Am I the same size as a goat? He wondered to himself. Regardless, he was certainly excited to meet more people. I don't have any questions.
he nodded.

"good. see that each time you are out, you are pursuing skills of some kind. if you are to venture beyond our borders, it must be for a purpose. diplomacy. healing. hunting."
I understand, thank you Imperator, I'll be back soon. He was excited to get started. And especially excited to tell Tierra everything about what his future at Mereo would be like. More than anything, he was just excited in general to finally be able to give back in ways he hadn't been able to before. He smiled broadly as he dipped his head. He was eager to get started.
the eagle nodded.

sybol was dismissed.

and he had gained the imperator's favour.
