Reyson paced to and fro in front of the walls of his home. Mereo had been his home now, for almost 3 months and he found that the high walls of the canyon fascinated him. He wanted to climb them. He wished to push his body to it's limit or die trying. he wanted to feel the burn of something, anything that wasn't constant memory and old aches and pains. He wanted to have that release, of the monotony. So with that thought in his head, he paced again.

Reyson wondered briefly if @Maxim would spot him, if he were to climb the walls. Would he be able to even do it? Would Maxim agree, after all there was a very real chance he would fall to his death. Could the good hearted Maxim bear that?
he watched from a distance, reyson seemed to pace. he wondered what plagued him so terribly.

he approached with a low chuff and a quirked brow. curiosity on his features.

there were no scents to be alarmed of at the wall. no current cougars or goats. so he would wait until reyson spoke his piece.
Reyson heard the chuff. He lay an ear back and then turned to meet the gaze of Maxim. Though he quickly averted his gaze. Maxim was higher than he now, and he wasn't about to be disrespectful.

A small wag of his tail and then he motioned to the wall. I want to climb it.

He said no more. Just stared at the wall with a determined gaze on his face. There were a few footholds, it would be rough and he would probably break claws and teeth, but he wanted to try.
the words were clear. the intent even more so. momentarily he wondered if some kind of madness had struck reyson.

but...

it would be a great physical feat. he commented idly. do you think you are fit for such a task? his brow remained arched. he did not seek to dissuade the man, only assess.
Reyson laid one ear down and the other forward and made an about face to study his friend. And that was what Maxim was now. He was his friend. Regardless of whether or not the youth knew it.

I am unsure. But I am willing to try. I have climbed many mountains. I want to do the same here. I see toeholds and footholds, there are roots to grasp with my teeth. If I mince my steps and watch carefully and move steady but sure. I should reach the top without any real issues.

He studied the wall again. There were some places where he would have to reach and leap. It was a frightening and yet appealing arch at the same time.
he silently mused for a moment. examining the wall. the fact of the matter was, reyson would surely do this either way.

to be asked about it first, was better than to not be.

climb then. i will remain on guard below you and be witness to your act. he offered a soft swing of his head towards the wall.
Reyson wagged his tail, a smile on his face. He gave a brief play bow and then turned towards the wall. He stared up at it and walked around. There was a root to grasp to pull himself up, or he could reach and jump upon the ledge. The ledge seemed easier, but he would just try it and see where it went from there.

He would have not done it had Maxim asked him not too. However, he was looking forward to the challenge.

I relish the challenge.

Finally he made a decision and he grasped the root in his jaws, and jumped and tugged himself up towards the ledge. It hurt a bit, but it was only a little burn. He studied the toeholds for the next leap.

1 1=root 2=ledge
he remained on guard. now it would be his turn to pace, watchful of reyson and the moves he made.

how odd that the man had seemed so excited and playful to climb the wall!
2          1=miss on first try 2= Grasp on the first try

Reyson moved mincing steps towards the above ledge. It was about 3 feet above him. So with careful movements, and determined gaze, he scrabbled and scraped. His large body, stretching, stretching until he caught a toe hold.

Then with a might push, he jumped from one to the other. His one paw, sliding on the edge just for a moment that made him seem to stumble, but he was steady and kept his stance and position. A gentle chuffing laugh curled around him.

He was enjoying this. There was nothing quite like pushing yourself to new heights and new movements.
he heard the chuffing laughter, saw the man struggling but succeeding all the same. he was not sure he had ever seen reyson seem so...lively.

but maxim was clutched with wariness and anxiety. almost prepared for the man to fall.

not wishing it, just prepared.
Reyson was enjoying himself. It was with trepidation that he attempted the next movement. However, as he caught the ledge his one leg slid and he had to move back to his ledge to rebalance and recenter.

He took deep breaths and then studied the wall again, eyes alighting on one then the other.

He would try again in a moment. He first needed to take a deep breath. He looked down to Maxim who already seemed small.

Alright down there Maxim?

Poor Maxim Reyson is going to give him gray fur. <3 2 1=succeeds on next jump, 2 fails next jump
a slipping.

he stilled and held his breath deeply. he was prepared to be the ultimate guardian. to catch a falling body or shoulder the man to the medicus.

reyson called down to him but the roar of blood rushing was too loud for him the pick apart the words from above.

focus on your task!
2.    1=2 tries to finish 2=finish first try

Reyson smiled and then with a tug and a leap he was atop the canyon wall looking down.

He lifted his muzzle to the sky and howled out triumphant. He took a moment to enjoy the sights. It was beautiful here.

Then with a grin he worked his way back down. Much easier going down and landed in front of Maxim.

His muscles ached, his head felt funny but he had done it.

Hey.
maxim felt at risk for a heart attack through it all. even moreso as the man began his descent after such a...triumphant call.

you've done it. he declared softly, shoulders sagging some as the tension and stress of the event wore off.
Reyson nodded. I did. I relished the challenge. Pushing myself further than I have before. It felt amazing.

His tail one quick wip behind him before he calmed his heartbeat and evened out his breathing.
he wondered, momentarily, if reyson was losing his mind.

then realized that certainly not. he was just...a soldier. on an extreme end, but a soldier. his dedication to the physical art was unmatched.

go and rest. feel free to tell the imperator of your feats while i soothe my heart. he told him with well intentioned humor.
Perhaps there was some merit to Maxim's thoughts of reyson losing his mind. Not that teh beast knew what his friend was thinking. But he couldn't have done the things he had, been through the things he had been through, not to lose little pieces of himself along the well, most certainly possibly even his mind.

I apologize for making your heart race friend. But well, what can I say. I have always enjoyed physical fitness.
