Heph stretched her legs, still content to stay near enough to Atka but curious as the grass of the fields yielded more and more rocks. She could easily see the larger structure that jutted up out of the landscape but it bore the scent of a pack strongly enough to convince her not to go too near but she still skirted around it in winding pathways that let her get a feel for the landscape. The wolf made no attempt to hide her passing, and kept her own senses alert for anyone who might try to hide their passage or sneak up on her. Not that she had met anyone particularly hostile in the near vicinity.
Mourning was tired, but she did not stop moving. Something pushed her onward, had been pushing her ever since leaving home, but what, she did not know. She caught the scent of two different packs on the breeze, and she wondered, was her place among them? Frowning slightly to herself, she pushed on, head held low. A stranger's scent, very fresh, filled her nostrils and she looked up to see a dark figure ahead. Not certain on what she wanted to do yet, she remained silent, watching the other.
Heph continued her slow pace around taking in her surroundings. The scent of a pack was laced with the scents of multiple wolves. She glanced around, letting herself look at the horizon and what interrupted the flatness and rise and fall of it. She thought she saw another figure in the distance, taking in a deep breath it was difficult to fully identify the smell from a distance. Her paws stilled and she turned slightly, unsure if the stranger had seen her, if they were another loner exploring or if they were from one of the nearby packs come to chase her off, perhaps for some other purpose. Perhaps they would simply pass her by. "Hello?" Her tail swished, half anxious half in greeting, but her greeting was unsure of itself still looking at the golden wolf as if her still frame would reveal something.
