life has been a whirlwind, spent doing normal puppy things: eating, sleeping and pooping. his eyes had opened while sight and hearing have become better as the days wear on. curiousity becomes hakon's friend. no longer is he content just lingering in the den; not when the light of the soft warm, buttery sunshine lures him towards the mouth of the birthing den.

paws pitter-patter on the earth as he explores towards it with caution.
tamar visited keyni often.

today she found one of the children near the denmouth. she set down her meal of fish and chuffed to the little one.

"hello, small thinker." her voice was a honeyed chuckle.
Not long after the birth of her children, Cerne left. Keyni had largely been preoccupied in tending to the newborns to give it much thought. But her emotions were raw. She was left bitter and hurt over the sudden absence of the man who was supposed to be a father figure in their young lives. Now, who would they look towards in such a role?

She fretted over Arika the most. The girl was so small, behind in her development compared to the others. It was a miracle everyday she woke to find her alive. She would request council with @Meadow, for a more detailed look into the health of her daughter.

Curled in the back of the den, she laid listless. Trying not to let her anger towards Cerne overpower her. Forget him. Her eyes followed the wandering shape of her bold son. She had his life and that of her daughters to look after, now. Tamar was near, on one of her visits. She smiled weakly but said nothing. Only crooned lowly for Hakon in encouragement. A welcome guest.

cerne was gone.

tamar took a breath and curled close to keyni. she reached to softly groom the other mother, sliding her tongue in gentle movements. "before you know it they will walk," she told the woman. "and then they will play with my own."

but her eyes searched keyni's face, for she knew surely sadness rested in the maternal heart.
Skipping Hakon with permission from Delaney.

Keyni watched the shadow of Hakon slip back inside the den, to be closer to his family. She sighed, nosing Tamar's cheek appreciatively. "I look forward to that day. To seeing them grow up together." She admired the woman, was drawn to her nurturing ways. "At least I have you and the support of the pack. That is enough."
tamar smiled softly.

"you have all of us, keyni." she kissed the little boy and then the face of her friend. "you must rest. epoch needs you to be well."

they would take care of each other.
