As a guest Nazli did not have to work from the crack of dawn, and instead it was Makono who was summoned with the soldiers for their drills. Nazli was up anyway, welcoming the light of a grim dawn through heavy clouds, and by the time she was properly awake and watching the crown prince go off, those clouds began to faintly spit water.

She moved to tidy the rooms where the visitors stayed. It was idle work; Nazli could not find any store rooms for fresh grass (for the floors) or clean furs (for the bedroll), and was nervous to go wandering so early in the day. She did this until she had adjusted everything once, twice, three times - six times, small tugs and things to make sure every object in the space was perfect.

It had only taken her an hour. The girl did not know what to do after, so she lingered by the doorway as a servant might, waiting for someone to call for her - only knowing, as Germanicus had pointed out, she was not expected to do work in this place; but she had her habits, and they were very hard to break. There was no telling how long the crown prince would be training with the menfolk, or how long it would be before the rest of Mereo woke.

Nazli did not know what to do with herself.
