Phox found himself torn, like he so often was. He had spent many months in Mereo now, and to leave it would feel like leaving home. But his whole life, anytime he and Towhee had been split up for some reason or another, he had been so very lost. Even with Fennec, Tierra, and Killdeer here, he just couldn't bring himself to stay indefinitely. He had, of course, taken time to make the decision. Towhee hadn't been gone that long—maybe a week, tops—but Phox could already feel the pull.

He would not, however, leave without at least chatting with @Germanicus. It was the way things were meant to be, and it would be downright rude to ignore that. Germanicus had sheltered him and turned him into a warrior in the time Phox had spent here, and the Redhawk knew that was valuable. And so, he sent up a short howl, inviting the Imperator to the sparring ring for a little good-bye spar.
phox summoned him.

germanicus had yet to know if the man or killdeer would accompany the majority of the redhawks away. he supposed it was time to discover such.

he greeted the man with a nod, stretching his limbs as he entered the arena. "good day." and there was appreciation in him yet for the guardian.
It is, isn't it? Phox replied. He paused, trying to put himself in Germanicus's shoes. How would he want to be told that one of his recruits was leaving? Would he want them to hem and haw about it (assuming they were being genuine), or would he rather get it over in one swift motion? Phox decided on the latter.

I think I am going to follow Towhee to Epoch, if that's okay with you. Phox had always been loyal to Germanicus, and he did want to give the guy a chance to reel him in—at least for a little while—if he thought it was better that Phox stay here. He wanted to give the Imperator a chance to make a case for him staying, if that was something he wished for.
it was as he suspected.

"i would not delay you, phox," the imperator said in acceptance. "tierra means to remain and has expressed interest in leadership."

he moved into position but did not yet initiate their spar. "mereo will be going on march to the seaside in the winter. it is a good opportunity for soldiers to learn allweather terrain. a skilled wolf who understands the land would be of use."
Germanicus explained the plan for the pack to uproot and move to the seaside later this year. Not one of Phox's favorite places to be, but it also wasn't his reason for wanting to depart. That Tierra was staying was actually more fodder for him to stay here with them. Towhee was his closest family, but knowing that Tierra (and perhaps Fennec and Killdeer) were also staying could just as easily sway him to stay here. Phox chewed his lip indecisively.

I'd like to go visit Epoch, first. Check it out and see if it's a good fit.
germanicus nodded. "epoch is a lovely place. arsenio and tamar will be welcoming hosts."

his heart ached to think of the redstone greek man.

"go in goodness." somehow he did not believe phox would return. the call of the redhawks was clarion.

"shall we?" he said with a faint smile, indicating their delayed spar.
