Inkeri walked from the place she stayed. She had been largely staying out of the way of others, preferring to stay quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the pack lands. She had not made any lasting friends and honestly she felt adrift.

She briefly wondered if she should just disappear into obscurity as Anja had as Lucius had. She was alone, a lowly misfit with no fortunes.
here comes bjarna, everybody's assigned friend ♥⌣♥

bjarna had seen inkeri, known her as a staple of kvarsheim.

even when days grew cold and nights longer. even when the other woman seemed more ghostly than tangible. bjarna was no stranger to secluding one's self away.

so when she spotted the woman, she was quick to greet her.

hallo, inkeri. limp tail swaying behind her. wondering if the woman cared for company
Hello. I would like a thread with Gunnar too where he talks to her about Skald if you would like and have the time. he's doesn't want to scare him in their current thread :)

Inkeri lifted black and white head, sea green eyes taking in the girl. She smiled. Hallo Bjarna.

Inkeri recognized teh child. She was wraithlike in the summer months, and alive and vibrant in winter. She liked to watch her caring for others. She was a gentle soul, kind and caring and Inkeri liked her for that.
absolutely!! feel free to tag me, or i can start if preferred :D

she was welcomed!

bjarna bloomed most when others wanted her, when she did not need to navigate the awkwardness of first conversations or introductions.

help inkeri?

her tail continued to wiggle behind her, wondering if the woman had set out to work upon something today.
I'll start

Ink couldn't quite hide the small smile that lit up her face at the girls exuberance. She was a breath of fresh air, here in the wilds of Teekon.

With what? What? I am only thinking. Thinking...umm....Að hugsa

She had to think hard for the word in Icelandic. It wasn't anything like the word Tenker in her own language for the same thing.
inkeri thinking?

she tilted her head, doggishly. curious still what might be on the woman's mind — and figuring they might sort through it together.

even if language may keep it slow.
Inkeri frowned and half smiled, and nodded her head. Yes. Thinking.

She looked upwards towards the sky and all around. I feel, ehm....adrift. á reki

She didn't know how else to say it and though she had learned quite a bit in her time here, it was still hard to trade the icelandic words for her Norwegian words, but she was trying.
adrift?

perhaps bjarna understood in a way. why not very long at all ago she had been practically crying to gunnar, figuring out what she would do to help more.

now she had the opportunity here to play the role gunnar had.

bjarna halp. she said again with a soft nod, patting the earth with an oversized (for her tiny body) paw. hoping to encourage the woman to settle with her. inkeri do... the struggle never ended, but she did her best. inkeri finna leið. it helped to speak her thoughts first in a more familiar tongue.

inkeri langar til halp?
Inkeri had always been adrift. As long as she could remember, she had no purpose, other than to be there for Anja. To make sure Anja survived to teh next day. The fights and the beatings. She had endured them all. Two halves to two worlds and she hadn't fitted in either one.

Inkeri settled near where the girl patted the ground and traced her paw along the dirt, sifting through the fine grains of dirt that lay there. Her ink and paper pelage showing up stark against each other.

Yes Help.
her head tilted softly.

inkeri... she tried to find words to connect to tasks between them. see? skáti? perhaps the other girl wished to see the world more! there would be no harm in letting inkeri roam.

as long as she came home, thought the selfish polar bear child.

trade? veiðimaður?

she had only ever used trade to mean for hunting!
Inkeri met her gaze, her own head mirroring that of the girl. She tilted and her ears shot up as she listened.

speider yes, and hunt. I fish too. Fish.

Inkeri looked around again unsure how to make her words known. It was so hard this barrier between them. She really needed to help the girl learn english.
fish.

a sound made twice. which led her to believe that it was important to inkeri. so bjarna nodded softly and gave a bit of a pensive look.

then tried her very best.

feesh?
Inkeri smiled and wagged her tail in delight, she understood how to say it at least. she nodded again.

Yes a vanndyr um...

She wrinkled her brow and then nodded. This one was close enough to the other she could say it.

vatnsdýr
ah!

this bjarna understood and she nodded her head strongly. it felt like they made progress here, towards a path inkeri may take.

inkeri trade? trade feesh? see, skáti, go trade?
It was slow going, but they were making progress, and Inkeri understood more than she realized. She wished to learn more. To be able to speak so easily to Bjarna and Gunnar and Sanja who just allowed the words of Iceland to fall from their maws.

Fish? Trade? Yes.
inkeri see!

this encouraged with a proud soft puff of her chest, eager to let the girl see her path now as bjarna did.

huhnt, trade. she hated how all she could do was repeat words! yet! perhaps...perhaps inkeri might understand some of the message in her native voice. make friends with your trade, your fishing. for kvarsheim.
Inkeri smiled. She didn't mind the parroting of words back. She herself did that often. It was the way of things. This girl did it to understand. Ink did it because she had no other choice. Her brain wired wrongly from years of abuse.

I will fish for Kvarsheim! she smiled again. I teach you?
fade here and maybe something new with some teaching? <3

words. sounds. things she recognized.

ja! she beamed brightly. a soft tapping of her front paws with undeniably energy. perhaps it was not very becoming as a leader, but she found it fitting as friend and coach.
Certainly <3

Inkeri returned the energy tenfold. Her own paws tapping. A smile on her face. It was lovely to have a friend again. She missed Anja. She missed Lucius, but these ones seemed like they would stay.
