lady aquene came to him in the forum. some time before, her sons had left mereo. now she sought an audience with the imperator.
he could not fault her for wishing to leave.
aquene had no more blood-ties among them.
they spoke long into the night, but germanicus did not interfere with her decision. instead he thanked her for her wisdom and early in the morning, he saw her off into the west.
until lady aquene had gone from view, the eagle watched.
and then he returned home to seek his wife's counsel.
