New Snow abandons her hunting of prey to head in the direction he had called from. And she sings to him a song her mother had sang for her father, during his ranging in days long ago that had been like this. Borders crossed. Cousins killed. Territorial disputes for food; it was Winter.
The song was a wordless one, but he would understand its meaning. Understand her. Go with my strength, too. Return [it] to me swiftly.
He was a great part of her strength, but she would share all things with him. New Snow quieted, the world muted as she heard only the sound of her breath once the echoes of her song died.
