It felt unfair, to wake with that burn.

Yet she moved in a way that felt girlish and regal in equal turns. Gathered @Kukutux with her and off, off, off! The coldness of the coast could not even simmer her burns — but, she turned to the Moonwoman.

Something lively in her pale gaze, something that had been missing in the weeks before. Sparked to life beneath the burning season.

She did not say anything, merely moved to continue her bounding playful ways with the pale woman. She reached with teeth for tangles of pale fur.
they had run to the sea together and it had been as her vision was.

the familiar warmth had come to life once more, and when she saw that sakhmet too was beginning to turn in those first-fires, her body had responded.

laughing, she ran with sakhmet from the borders of moonglow, knowing that all would be well. when the red woman came close, she stood shivering beneath the gentle touch of the other's teeth, raising muzzle to explore the base of one soft ear. "in my dream you were anmaak."
Sakhmet had been many things.

She had been tala, issumatar, mother. Once a sister, too.

Anmaak.

Her breath punched the back of her throat like a gust of the breeze. A breathless sort of sound escaped her. Down she wished to go, upon the sandy bay's shores. Let the water sweep her out to sea if it so wished.

Only in your dream?

Her cheeks burned hot.
"no."

she laughed again, a shy sound, but then her eyes were searching those of sakhmet, hoping she would find the same nerves and the same anticipation there.

softly she kissed the mouth wet by the sea, and the surf lapped around them both with a low sound of wanting.
A million nerves Moonwoman may find.

All of them sensitive with her anxieties and heightened by her self-imposed flame. Yet she was kissed and the sea wrapped around them. They might drowned, and Sakhmet found she had no worries of it.

Her silver dusted limbs sought to wrap around Kukutux with warmth.

She did not want either of them to pull away and he voice vibrated in the small space between their muzzles.

What is anmaak to you?

the ocean raced around her. she felt as though sakhmet's eyes drew her in.

she was embraced, and here she shuddered with pleasure and with the lick of cold wind upon salt-soothed skin.

"tamâni," and she touched sakhmet's chest where inside her heart  beat.

"uvani," and slid lower to the tight belly.

kukutux drew them both further up the beach; she pressed sakhmet softly to the sand.

"uvanga."

and then no more for a long while.
time skip for more talk? <3

She wanted to ask, but found her voice left her.

Given to the sea, given to Moonwoman.

For all the fears she had of everybody else, for all the memories she carried in her burning chest, they were gone in that moment. Buried in the sand. All the names that scratched across her heart, smoothed by the sea's lapping waves like a stone.

Her eyes closed, but she did not rest or seek to place herself elsewhere.

Only to ground herself to the presence of Kukutux for a long while.

Words could come once that time had been spent.

the light had changed when they came back to themselves.

kukutux let out her breath in wondering. it was very unlike being with aiolos. and yet she felt the same deep spirit leaping inside her.

she rolled to face her lover. the fire-starter. her eyes were filled with many things. she did not yet speak and when she did it was to say, "always i learn new things of myself."
She stayed still, close. An ear pressed to the soft chest she now knew. Listened to the patter of the woman's heartbeat as it settled and simmered.

Their skin still burned, but it did not seem so awful if the time was spent like this.

Do you like the things you learn?

Something ugly licked up the back of her brain, that the moonwoman might decide she did not. Things often thought upon by the anxious in the glow of time spent together afterwards.
"i like the things you have to teach me."

another kiss, eyes closed; breathing each other in during the silent and slow moments.

she was on her feet next, laughing; she urged sakhmet back into the surf and pointed to a tiny island, more a giant stone, not so far off. "shall we swim there?" was the current ready for it?
A kiss soothed the gentle burns in her mind.

Scorched by things beyond both of their control.

But then her pale lover was on swift feet, drifted towards the waters once more. Speaking of swimming when Sakhmet already felt like she was drowning in full.

I've never — But the statement fell flat in her mouth, for it felt silly to speak of nevers when she had just marked so many firsts.

Still, perhaps the nerves rolled off of her as she stood, looking out to sea.
"or me."

kukutux found herself lifted by a swell; she balanced on toetip and looked at the back of sakhmet's fine head.

"i have gladness in me that it was you first, anmaak."

something like tears in her eyes, desire and love flickering through her gaze.
I like when you call me that.

Her voice was small in the back of her throat. Her toes left sand and it felt like she left the earth entirely in those cold moments. She wished to draw Kukutux back closer to her once more.

Even in the waves.

I should just be anmaak always, hm?
"anmaak with me. sakhmet in the daytime."

her teeth showed in a little smile.

she wanted the fire-starter again, her time having just begun.

but soon she would call for aiolos.

and soon she would see if he kept his mind.
And what will you call me when sunman comes here between us? What will he call me?

She dared to ask, tongue rested pressed against the back of her teeth now.

She paddled for a moment before she allowed herself to merely drift.
her body lit at that.

for kukutux enjoyed such an image, her sun man twining with the fire-starter.

"what do you want him to call you?" she whispered. "i will call you the same."
He must decide.

Her voice was hushed and she reached beneath the waves for the side of Kukutux.

Just as you have.

Ice water did nothing for the anmaak.
ocean-dripping muzzle reached toward sakhmet's own.

"we should call for him."

her arms, wending this time around the fire-starter.

"soon."
In the morning light.

For now, she needed this.

The safety and comfort. The shared warmth that spread between.
