located at the northwestern part of HLP, set for early afternoon with sunny conditions!

this was her first time leaving the isle since her arrival. and thankfully there was a good reason for her journey besides just the call of adventure. recently she had been hearing the bugle of a bull elk, and any call that didn't sound like a howl or a bark meant that it was most likely prey.

iseul loved fish and certainly didn't mind rabbit. but she knew that the hooved creatures held a higher quality of meat and a bounty for all of the river isle. so when she had a free moment, the girl hopped the river and came towards the outer edge of the plateau. the lake seemingly glistened under the rare sunlight in winter, reflecting with the pure white snow that surrounded it.

at the mouth of the lake was the bull elk and perhaps a few of his cows. she could see some younger bulls, far away enough to not threaten the dominant bull, but close enough to tempt a female to wander. while it was clear with practically no trees to protect her, iseul had come to stay put behind a near rock formation. if she stayed crouching, she'd be able to stay out of sight.
He's been trailing the small group of cows for a day or so now. Observing their behaviors and hierarchy.

Given the time of year Andr knew that many of the females had already been bred and wouldn't be giving birth for another handful of months. They would produce for the next season and generation of the herd. Not his mark, but they gave him something to do and something to observe.

However, as they ventured into the Lake Plateau they temporarily joined with a bachelor group of males. Most of the males were being respectful, keeping to themselves... But there was another, a bigger one moving around acting like it owned the place.

Breeding season was well over and Andr knew elk moved in gendered herds joining together during breeding season of big migrations. This wasn't one of those times. The females wandered further way from this brooding male but he was persistent. He needed to take a hint. And Andr was prepared to give one.

He continued to slink around the outside of the herd. The wind in his favor. Pondering his next course of action.
she watches quietly as the bold male comes to harass the cow. and for a moment iseul wished that the cow would just kick up her heels and tell the bull to back up. but instead, the pacifistic animal would continue to just ignore the advances, despite the vocal upset of the young bull.

and it seemed she was not the only one a little upset by this fact, as the scent and soon the image of another comes before her. a pretty boy, one who watched the herd with an intensity that made her stir a bit. she feared that he would come to scare the herd off or attempt to hunt them on his own [something that would end most likely in failure].

so, she reveals herself to him with a snort, jadeite eyes glued on his figure. and she looks at him, then motions to the herd for a moment. she stays close to the ground. despite the fact that the wind did not reveal their scent, she knew that her figure was large enough to be seen with the elk's keen eyesight. iseul looks to the unknown man again, as if to ask

"what exactly is your plan here?"
A distant snort crept into his concentration. He waited a moment and took a mental image of the herd before glancing over toward the noise. He widened and squinted his eyes like binoculars searching for its source. Then he saw it. Not too far away was a mixed female tucked in beside a rock formation. The beautiful jade of her eyes is what captured him first, well suited for her powerful figure.

Without words, he read her body language and expression. One of confusion and questioning. He thought about getting closer but in his peripheral saw a few of the elk scanning in their direction. They hadn't seen them yet, and they were well concealed, but motion could give them away.

He nodded softly to her acknowledging her presence. Looking at her and gently gesturing to the herd before returning to himself. He wondered if she might be trying to claim a member of the herd for herself, or asking for help.
he acknowledges her, and iseul considered moving closer to get in better earshot of the man in hopes of seeing what his intentions were. clearly, they were both curious about one another and seemingly had the same question for each other. it was certainly risky for these two to try and take on an elk on their own.

when the cow had changed where her eyes wandered, iseul basically army crawled closer to the nobleman. and when she noticed the cow come to look towards her, she'd stop. she hadn't crawled more than perhaps a few inches or so-- it would be forever until she'd reach the man without any of the elk noticing.

so, she must try her voice rather than moving closer. with the loudest whisper she can muster without disturbing the herd, she calls out to the other in a stilted manner. "hunt or watch?" if he wanted to hunt, she'd be willing to give it a try with him. but he intended to only watch, she would not spoil this herd for him. she was much too thoughtful for that.
The herd was on edge. They knew something was out there watching them, but they themselves could not see what. The girl with eyes of Jade crept closer to him but quickly froze. She knew just as well as he that another move would send the herd running. He watched her out of the corner of her eye, following her with his peripheral vision afraid to turn his head.

To hunt or to watch. 'To correct' Andr thought to himself thinking of the misbehaving buck. Neither of the options seemed to meet his desires. Any attempts at a hunt at this time would be futile. In Andr's eyes, they had already been spotted. And watching wouldn't do anything to stop the buck's behavior. Perhaps startling them would be best, give the girls a reason to run and to separate from the male. But he wasn't sure what the Jade female wanted to do and didn't want to ruin her day by spooking her potential prey.

He didn't have much time to think about it for a snapped twig and rustling on the other side of the clearing followed by a fluttering of birds into the sky caught the herd's attention. They galloped off away from the wolf pair. Although not all bad news as it appeared the female group set on their own path separate from the bachelor herd who had picked up their stubborn leader.

"I suppose the few choices we had have dwindled" he said with a faint smile finally able to turn and face the Jade eyed female. "I hope their departure wasn't too disappointing for you. If you're hungry I'm more than happy to help you acquire some other food." he offered despite the herd's departing being outside his influence.
from a misstep, the herd soon scuttles off and the duo is left by themselves. iseul huffs at the sight, ears flattening a bit seeing an opportunity run off of healthy legs. however, there was really no chance of her being able to successfully hunt an elk by herself, and even with 2 sets of jaws, the prey was still much too capable.

"was watching," she comes to say, twitching an ear to get a pesky gnat to buzz off, "what name?" the man was friendly enough, which iseul always liked in her friends. maybe he lived around here or was even looking for a place to stay if it interested him.
Her speech was accented and limited. He wondered for a moment if he should alter his speech, but thoughts that unless she showed difficulty understanding him, changing his speech now may be seen as offensive or a mockery.

It was relieving to hear she was merely watching the herd and he hadn't ruined her pursuits. Although foreign the sound of her voice was intriguing and pleasant. He bowed his head to her and introduced himself "My name is Andramed Dorian, though you may call me Andr if you wish. And you Miss?" he asked before raising his head to look at her in the eyes once again.
"Andr," she comes to say lightly on her tongue, "Iseul." a small bow of her own head to return his respectful gesture. her gaze lifts to meet the male's for a moment before returning to look at the fleeing elk, their panicked hoofbeats no longer drumming so loud in her ears.

"they too big anyways," she comes to say with a roll of her shoulders, "not enough of us." truly, elk required enough capable hunters, a powerful duo could only do so much with a large elk thrashing about. "does andr live here?" Iseul didn't catch any lingering smells or markings, but it was better to ask than worry about it later she thought.
Thank you for your patience. I'm starting to get Andr's threads cleaned up and organized. Given the distant start date, I'm willing to fade out or continue. Your preference :)

Iseul was her name and it rolled off her tongue, unlike the other words she had spoken. Her name was clearly familiar to her, but the origin of her name was one Andr did not know. He suspected another language to be her primary one, but this didn't bother him and he didn't think to inquire.

She was probably right. While hunting elk as a pair or solo was not impossible it was very challenging and required a plethora of skill and experience. Something Andr felt he had, but with such an alert herd their chances may as well have been none.

He couldn't help the smile on his face hearing her speak and seeing the jadeite in her eyes. She felt genuinely good like he could tell her anything and not have it held against him. "No Miss. I do not claim a place as my home. And you?" he returned.
we can fade here; if he's ever back in these parts, i'd always love a thread! last from me <3

"i have home, back there." her muzzle would come to point in the direction of the isle, tail swinging at the thought of her rivers and treelines.

Iseul would come to offer Andr information about her place there, along with the names of her leaders and perhaps nothing more. it would give the man a base to build off of, should he ever come to visit there or come to see her again. and as the time would come to roll on, Iseul would have to make her departure.

so she tells the man that he is welcome to visit, should he ever need a home. and if he did, he was told to use her name as a reference and even call for her, should another come to find him before herself. so with that, the girl offers a last dip of the head before coming to head back towards the Isle, thinking about the strange nature of Andr.
