Mereo had fallen to pieces. There was nothing left and little to hold on to. Paeon was not saddened but disappointed. She was upset that Mereo had fallen, that she was now without a home. Without a pinpoint reason, she only had her escort, the former Imperator to blame. But like a true captain of a sinking ship he kept his word and escorted Paeon to Paleo. Ensuring her safe passage, and she hoped a good introduction.
If she were being honest with herself though she would know her anger and disappointment also stemmed within her. She had wanted to do more for Mereo, and now she wouldn't have that chance. Perhaps Paleo would be that chance, if she was even allowed entry.
Despite being close neighbors and allys of Mero, Paeon knew little of Paleo's values or who resided within it. She hoped that it would be an environment where she could continue to improve her combat medic skills and plant the seeds of her growth.
Stopping at the pack's border she looked to Germanicus and waited to see who he may summon. With her limited knowledge and reputation with this pack she hoped Germanicus's presence and words would help her secure a spot among their ranks.
*Ok with a mixed turn order if it makes sense in this thread :)
Traders. What types of goods did they possess? Or more importantly, was there anything they were lacking that she could assist with? Regardless of the pack, it was always good to have someone able to care of the injured and sick, as well as defend its borders. But as she pondered, she thought about how she could do more than that. Use her knowledge of medicinal herbs for trade, or even trade her medical skills. The value of someone's life was highly valued, definitely something she could leverage.
As she weighed her resume in her mind a large dark male approached the border. Paeon's eyes looked in awe at the well-seasoned male decorated in scars across his face and neck - at least the ones she could see at that time. He address the imperator as such and she was happy that she had him alongside her.
The weight of the situation hung in the air and Paeon thought she should display a level of etiquette. First impressions matter. She lowered her head respectfully and glanced at Germanicus, it felt right that he be the one to explain the situation before she attempted to petition herself.
Paeon thought she might have to plead her case, but even with Germanicus's simple description the dark male seemed very willing to take her on as an apprentice. As he spoke she noticed an accented articulation around his W's. It piqued her interest and she wondered about his background. But she would need to hold her questions for later. She didn't want to blow her shot.
"Thank you. I'll make sure to do all that I can Sir..." she trailed off. She had wanted to call him by his name or title but quickly realized that she hadn't learned it yet. Perhaps Sir would be polite enough for now unless he caught on and filled in the gap.
Looking over to Germanicus she gave him a thankful smile, unsure if this was going to be a true goodbye. "Will I be seeing you around?" she asked faintly, lightly preying into where he might plan to go next.
Germanicus would not be staying and Paeon would be starting again on her own with only Germanicus's introduction as a foot in the door. "I look forward to meeting you again. However, far in the future that may be," she said with a bittersweet smile. "Take care of yourself"
Mahler. This was the name of her new leader. The ruler of the place she would now call home. She was eager to get to know him better. Following a good night's rest in this new home, she would do just that.
