for the little family

The days following the giving of birth, Nasamik's time was spent both grieving and healing.

Though the children were out, her body still ached, leaving her glued to her nest of pelts. And keeping food down had also been a struggle. But she pushed through it as best she could, other worries to carry aside from herself.

Two gone, one living. Little @Raiyuk. Sunrise to sunset, Nasamik fawned and fussed over the beautiful boy. He was her life now. As was @Chakliux. Both were her family, and nothing could undo this.
The boy adapted to things quickly. There was no other course of action; he hungered, so he ate, and when he felt the cold bite of the air he would burrow against the warm body of his mother.

Occasionally he would fuss, and that was when he felt too full, or too cold, or too strange outside of the waterworld that had been his everything; but after some tending by his mother, he would be soothed. He was not difficult at this stage. Life was simple, and he slept often.
the seal hunter's eyes did not leave his son for long. he allowed nasamik the most interaction with the boy, sensing that raiyuk would heal a good deal of the pain from loss she carried.
he himself did not recognize this loss; he would not.
today he slid closer, grunting, "give him to me." softly he took raiyuk into the crook of his elbow, looking down into the perfect small face.
Today, it would not only be Nasamik doting upon their son, but also Chakliux.

She almost couldn't help but feel a tinge of surprise as her husband took their child in his grasp. There may have also been a hint of jealousy, a pout spreading thin across her expression.

Raiyuk was not far from her. He was safe. She knew it, and yet she did not.
The boy was shuffled carefully in to the waiting crook of his father's elbow. His eyes were still shut, his nose blunt, and ears folded; but he murmured groggily and kicked his feet, almost reaching Chakliux's bent chin. A little hiccup jostled his fat belly.
chakliux looked down into the tiny perfect face of his son and felt something powerful shift inside his heart.
a great protectiveness came up inside the seal hunter; his throat grew tight. he lowered his chin to those little feet and looked at the fine fat belly.
"you have done well, nasamik," chakliux mumbled to his wife, overcome.
She had heard her husband's word, but subconsciously ignored it.

With a small, anxious whine, Nasamik reached beneath his chin and gripped her son by the nape, pulling him back to her. Back to her belly the child went, her tired body coiling until Raiyuk was entirely hidden.

It was nothing against Chakliux at all; yet there was some instinctive possessiveness that wanted the babe beside her every second of the day.
Raiyuk felt his toes clip at the chin of his father, once, before a pinch at his nape. The shape of him receded, and then he was enveloped in the furs of his mother. A brief protest resulted in the boy growing tired, and he was now so warm and cozy, so he did not fight for long.
fading! <3

chakliux scoffed a little in surprise but he let raiyuk go and his wife return to their sleeping place.
the seal hunter looked toward the skies above.
"you take. you give."
there was only the wind to answer chakliux.
