they continued their trek west through the buffalo plains. there was a flutter quivering in her bones with every step, though even she couldn't be sure that she hadn't imagined the familiarity of her surroundings. it seemed too easy. too good. too much luck. though perhaps she hadn't given enough thought to what would come when she turned up with the lost ostrega.

they came upon their first herd -- not yet numbering so vastly as summer herds were known to -- at the hot springs. the huge beasts were milling around, grazing and chewing their cud as brother sun arced through the sky. as morning gave way to afternoon, surely they would move along but for now it seemed as though the warmth and grass had drawn them. 

the dove paused to watch them, maintaining a safe distance -- just in case. two wolves surely wouldn't be enough to put them on edge but the naturalist didn't wish to test their patience by wandering too close. 

she settled upon bear-marked haunches creakily, good ear lifting to capture the bellowing and snorts that emitted occasionally from the bison as they foraged. 

her own stomach growled, needling her with the insistence of sustenance but aiwë pushed it aside for now -- not wanting to miss a moment to study the grazers in their habitat. 

her gaze flitted to @Saviguk, whispering that she could catch up with him if he grew bored of watching the bison.
