There was a new guy around here somewhere that Bluejay was determined to meet.  Hanging out with Dwin was fun, but ever since Aiden left, Jay had missed running around with a dude his age.  He rolled with Bronco and his dad whenever he could but it wasn’t really the same.

He kept an eye out for @Atreus as he lazily made his way through the caldera.  He could do a patrol, and would later, but wasn’t feeling it now.  Way too lonely and quiet, and if he found this other dude, maybe they could run one together.  Or, y’know, do something else that was more fun.
Ponyboy was supposed to be under his father’s watch- and for once, had been fairly tame. He chewed on a stick, he pounced at some bugs- nothing out of the ordinary. He bided his time until his father became calm, and began to look a bit sleepy.

Then, he bolted.

He heard his name called, and he heard his father howl. He had two other children he could not simply abandon- but Ponyboy did not heed the message which was fairly clear-

Get my son and bring him back to the den!

But it was also likely that everyone else in the pack would hear it.
Atreus dipped his head down for a drink from the territory’s namesake, the sound of his tongue striking the water breaking the morning quiet. He drank until his stomach felt heavy with it but didn’t stop until a howl wafted through the air. He raised his head, ears pricking at the message.

“Get my son and bring him back to the den!”

He didn’t know who was calling, though it didn’t take a genius to deduce that it must be one of the two fathers living here. Did that mean a young pup was running amok around the caldera? Atreus blinked, looking around. He didn’t see anyone, much less a youngster.

He swiveled away from the shore and began climbing the slope leading to the caldera’s rim. From up there, he would be able to see much farther, so perhaps he could spot this wayward whelp.
sorry, been failing up a storm everywhere lately and I hate leaving threads unfinished <3.  Had a reply planned on here to write him out anyway, so revived it for a quick conclusion

Jay heard the call as well, and two thoughts warred in his mind.  Doing something for Bronco’s approval was always a high selling point, but wrangling a kid back to where the older adults hung out was the opposite of his “cool plans” for today.

In the end, youthful bliss won out.  They’d all be looking, right?  They’d find whoever it was way quicker than Jay would.  With that final thought, he grinned and took off across the border.  He had awesome shit to find!  He could always hunt down the new dude another day.
