The eventual escape from the thorn-filled forest was an amazing thing to occur. Her paws remained sore even still, her travels not helping to take away the tenderness. But she could not stop just yet, her desire to see more of this land egging her on. She had yet to find either a waterfall’s cave or even a circle of great stones—but Kovette was not the least bit disappointed by this. She was just happy to be traveling.

Happening upon a path of steep and unforgiving ledges, she wondered if she might need to find another way around. Pacing back and force, she contemplated what was the worst thing to happen—she could fall, tumble down the rocky outcroppings and fracture a limb, or worse. But if she could be careful...?

Curiosity eventually got the better of her and the northerner began the treacherous trek down; slow and steady, slow and—

A misstep, the ledge she reached for looser than it appeared, rocks slipping and sliding and attempting to rip her right down with them. Just barely able to catch herself, Kovette froze where she stretched from one ledge to the next, her heart just a single slip-up away from popping. Even slower yet, the wolf exhaled and proceeded down towards the grotto, relaxing once she was back amongst trees.

Kinder than the last forest she ventured through, Kovette did not rush—not until she stumbled upon a pool of water. As if developing a mind of their own, she was soon thereafter being yeeted by her own four legs clear into the water; her body quickly disappeared below the surface before bobbing back up again, the water chilly but soothing.
