Evening was closing in on the Teekon territory. The sun's heat had faded and the earth was warm from long hours beneath it. Each step of his paw against it was an earthly touch of assurance.

Kinloch may not have known where he was headed, but instinct had guided him well. There had been little trouble on the path from his family to where he stood. As he looked upon the edge of the forest and the mountain range that jutted upward and extended north, he felt he had done a fine job for himself. In the woods he would find prey and a place to rest for the night.

The shadows swallowed him as he stepped into the wood. Kinloch stood out - silver hairs that clung to the remaining rays of sun.
guided not by instinct — or any kind of intelligence really — but the need to keep moving, Marija had stumbled her way into somewhere new: a forest, which she had to pace in circles before entering.

the canine kept her head low, checking the forest floor below her constantly in case of any grass. all she wanted to do was find a place to rest before night hit. but she was running out of time, and so her heart raced. she probably would've found one by now had she not spent half-an-hour pacing. stupid, stupid, stupid...

she did not continue berating herself, however, as her senses picked up that of a wolf nearby. and thankfully, he was easy to spot. but so was she, but her the color of her own coat had not come to mind. she stood like a deer caught in headlights, frozen as she stared without any consideration as to how rude the gesture was.
