As Reverie's weight dwindled dangerously and her figure turned sharp-edged and ridged with prominent bones, another horror made itself known. A... lump, she thought, positioned awkwardly low on her belly; subtle at first, but as the days passed it became readily apparent to anyone looking. She tried not to look. Only once did she allow herself a thorough inspection of it, and then she turned her mind firmly away from this new development.
She said nothing to Bridget, nor Lestan, but she was certain the latter would notice soon if he hadn't already. Disgusted with herself and the state of her body, Reverie made a renewed effort to eat properly. It made no difference; nothing stayed down, not even the smallest and most inoffensive meals she tried. But she did not bleed again, and the pain did not return. Reverie tried to be grateful for that.
