Since her arrival to the mesa, Miho scarcely found herself alone. She felt both an emotional and physical pull to stay near her mother and sister, much to their annoyance at times. But on this day, the imaginary string that tethered to her makeshift home against the desert painted stone loosened.
Off she went on this morning to explore this new territory, one that was vastly different from Greatwater. Timidly, she descended down stone steps to follow the scent of strangers nearby, landing herself among the alcoves of the city. Dark and cool, a respite from the summer heat, the child grew more bold with every unchallenged step she took.
