tamar came alone.

her excursions from epoch were quite few, nonexistent these days.

but she knew she must go beyond, for how were she and epoch to live in a desertland if she could not remember it?

a cavern, ground giving way to rounded walls which dripped with all manner of foliage. tamar set about her investigations.
The mountains were- daunting as they were scary, and beautiful as they were lovely!

Every step she took flinched back to her chest, the sounds of the great beyond now reverberating in her eardrums and throat. Thrumming crickets were beginning to climb up her spine, and goodness, was it starting to get under her skin in the most wondrous of ways. Everything was new. Everything made her chest feel heavy and deep, or skip various beats.
It reminded her vaguely of home, and how the the trees made pathway for life. Maybe bears. Or maybe bobcats or badgers!

Where the ground cracked open, deep dark. Saga's eyes opened wide, then squinted, then her head stretched forward before she called- well, just in case!

 "Hello?"
a lovely young woman greeted her.

a smile wreathed her mouth.

"hello! where are you going?" she asked in genuine interest, pale-brown eyes alight as she looked up toward the cavern's mouth. "maybe you can come down?"
"Oo-!" her voice was promptly silenced, and her heart quickened its beat until if near flatlined. Saga had not expected an answer, let alone a voice so welcoming. Why, she about fumbled over herself.

"Hello! Oh, yes, I will try to make my way down there. Oh, goodness, that is very scary. Um! You see, I'm not really sure where I'm going," she spoke, trying to inch safely down. "I've just been going and going.
Her paw slipped in a way she did not like.
"Days and days! You wouldn't believe, but, er- ah! Are you safe? In the- In the cave?" She spoke as if fleas were biting her voice, nerves hitting her as she started to slip deeper and deeper into the dark that followed towards lovely oakwood eyes in moonlight.
"i am!"

her voice was cheery. tamar stood aside so the stranger could descend. "it is full of plants.

tamar smiled into the pretty face.
