Moon Runner is going off-board for a while! I’m headed out on a vacation soon and also need a little break from some of my characters. I expect her to return sometime in December. I’ll do my best to conclude all of her threads. I’ll still lurk around the site & discord, so feel free to hit me up any time!

Moon Runner sat neatly on a large boulder, overlooking the Rise.

Thoughts of the elk drummed a song in her hunter's heart.

She saw a great herd cross the lowlands, across the plains towards greener pastures.

Winter was almost here. The air was cold and crisp. Her furs had thickened and became pale for a season full of snow.

Geese flew overhead.

I hear a call, the spirit said.

Her black nostrils flared. A deep inhale of the Rise’s familiar scent.

We must answer it, the spirit decided.

Father, @Augur, and Mother, @New Snow. The girl saw them first. She cackled a cheerful note as they mingled together, bright tiger eye amber turned towards the distant scrim. She nibbled at their coats. Licked their jowls. Maybe she acted this way because the young wolf felt it might be the last time she could play the role of a child.

Next, she found Sister. @Saturdays Sunrise. The wolf she was closest with. The other half of her heart. Her spirit. She doted on her sibling and spent some time grooming her pelt. There was some remorse. Sadness. She could never ask Sister, a budding guardian, to leave with her. Then, there was happiness and excitement. Moon Runner couldn’t wait to see the wolf Sister would become upon her return.

I will not be gone long, the warm look of her spirit assured.

Shadow, @Mulherin, Bloodspot, @Masquerade, and Rolling Thunder, @Riley, were on patrol together. Moon Runner crashed their watch and instigated playtime. The crunchy leaf litter made for excellent zoomies. Then, when Moon Runner was out of breath, she gave each wolf a fond look and a head bump. Her eyes lingered on Shadow. How would the pack change? How would it grow?

Wolverine, @Lilia, and White Buffalo Hunter, @Ancelin, were alone together. Moon Runner was almost afraid to interrupt them! Yet, the Beserkr and Bjern humored the young girl. She would never forget all the lessons they had taught her. Moon Runner admired and respected them both.

Then, one by one, she sought out the rest of her cohorts.

Red Eye, @Redsky.

Vulture, @Carrion.

River, @Wanderer.

Quiet Night, @Towhee Jr. They all shared a special connection, no matter how small. What would they be liked when she returned?

The next morning, under a cloudy October sky, Moon Runner dispersed. She loped beyond Redtail's borders into the wilds to follow the herds and the steps of her ancestors.
