For @Kukutux. He coming back to mom! But any are free to have cameos of noticing him.

Arrluk had been reluctant to leave his home when Kukutux had said it must be done. So much so that he had not gone far off as another might have. His heart did long for elsewhere. It was for here.

He did not see the northern lands of caribou. He did not share this with his mother as Kassuq had. Instead, his path had guided him from one place of water to the next. It was not the snow slopes his spirit longed but the rivers, the lakes, the marsh. Sea

Now he returned home, to the lands of Nuiruk. To the villages of Moon. After reaching the Alpine Lake, Arrluk strode the mountain sides of Moonglow with a new ease. When he was within its mountain borders, he came to the lake for a drink and then sought out his parents. There on grandfather rock he could see his father lay in the distance. His mother a busy bee.

Arrluk's front was still stained heavily with blood. He had met Akhlut. That night both creatures rested and both became something new. A piece of Arrluk's heart sacrificed to the sea in exchange for the strength of Akhlut's spirit. In the morning, Arrluk had eaten of its flesh- its heart, and wore the blood of it proudly now.
Just a cameo

Ajei had taken to standing at the topmost ledge she could and looking down over as much of Moonglow as she could. She was able to see more borders that way. She was holding out, hoping to see one of the boys return. She missed them, she wanted their voices to her ears and their bodies in the home. It was hard to watch them go out and worry and wait, being left behind, but they had needed to do this. She knew.

It was a furred pelt of shadows and light that had come first and though she knew he would need to see his family first. She did not hold this right. She lifted her voice in song, letting him know she had seen him, and she would seek him out eventually.

Her song delicate and trilling as she often spoke. So there would be no surprise that he would know it was her. Then with a new spring to her step, she descended and went for her mother. Pleased that Arrluk had returned.
my son has returned a man!

her song was proud and full-throated. she watched arrluk approach, her eyes noting the blood upon him.

he had killed. he had prayed. he had dreamed.

and now he stood before her with a new light in his eyes, a new knowing.

my son has returned a hunter!

her gaze was proud upon him. kukutux offered him a woman's reference, the old way of bowed head and averted eye.

birdsong in ajei's voice.

moonwoman heard this — and wondered, even as her grin was for arrluk entire.
Arrluk's return came with song. A howling within the mountains, one which was the voice of Ajei to greet him. His muzzle raises to the sky, scanning the low lying mountains for her, yet did not capture her red pelt on the cliffs and so returned his attention to his parents on ahead.

His mother then sang and his father lifted atop grandfather stone, offering a deep woof in turn. He pads into his mother's direction, meeting her along the lake bed. His head lowering for his snout to slide into the thick white fur of her nape.

It's good to be home, aana.
kukutux was joyed beyond measure. "it is good to have you home."

she did not reach to kiss him as she might once have; her eyes were filled with him, seeing how he stood taller.

blood was upon him. his scent was laced with salt.

"have the spirits settled your heart, my son?" and her eyes asked if he was at peace.
He takes a step back, her eyes bright upon him. His ears sweep back to her question and he nods, quiet a moment and then, I saw her- sea sister. He paused then, waiting to see the emotions in her gaze from this.

I had found a deep lake high in the mountains. She lead me back to her home. He didn't say her name. He knew he shouldn't, at least not in front of mom. It was a strange tradition, not being able to speak the name of one you loved that died because something bad might happen.

Akhlut was there. He was arrluk. A strange way of putting it, yet he believed his mother would understand. Akhlut had come to him in his final form, as arrluk- killer whale. It was this blood which he wore now: Blood of akhlut. Blood of arrluk. Blood of himself.
she.

kukutux inhaled, and her eyes shimmered.

but she was silent as her son spoke onward.

she understood, and nodded quickly. "such a strong totem and fierce power has been given to you, arrluk. and now you are a man."

she was first to say it, first to assure; her son had walked the way of sunshine men for years before him and had returned to his village, changed and touched by the spirits.
Arrluk's ears swept back, his head lowering too, in a sign of respect and gratitude for not only his mother, but of moonwoman, leader of their people. It was by her word and assurance, Arrluk had shed his puppy fat and flurry fuzz into a place of manhood.

Thank you. He says after a deep breath, tail sweeping back and forth slowly behind him and his head lifts once more. I think I'm going to rest awhile and catch up with everyone later.

He says, pausing only long enough for his mother to speak before retreating to their den. He would sleep much more soundly in the warmth and familiarity of the place which he was born. A good rest was well deserved.
