It surprised her a little that Tuwawi and Njal had chosen to den so close to the southwestern border. There was no line drawn around the territory, of course, but the ground out here was less traveled than the interior of the pack's claim. It kept her awake a little longer at night, nose poking out of the door and ears alert for anything out of the ordinary.

Which was exactly what she heard in the deepest black of night after a long day of fruitless hunting. She was snoozing gently near the entrance of the den when the whispering started - two voices, both urgent, edged with fear. Wolves. Intruding wolves. Very stupid intruding wolves.

Bazi held her breath and waited, every muscle tense. The maths put her at a clear disadvantage - two against one, and she was not strong enough to fight with any chance of winning. If she summoned the pack, would the unwelcome visitors kill her on the way out just to spite the Creek?

She would have to take her chances. Bazi crept silently out into the open... and then gave away her position by raising the alarm.
◆Thanks for opportunity on Warden thread. :D ◆

Saber had not interacted with his fellow packmates all that much, entirely focused on providing cache fillings, for hunts had failed left and right in the Creeks efforts. Prey were getting slippery, and Saber knew his constant supply of fish would soon too, run the well of luck dry.
His patrol of the SouthEastern borderlines had proved cautious. The handsome agouti had found recent scents of loner wolves. Saber had the curiousity of a cat, but also the wits of a wolf. He knew the scents were undistinguished, and holding more than one scent at a time. This meant multiple wolves, and him only being a single lupine, held him at a disadvantage. He knew if they were stupid enough to enclose themselves in near a take land, however, they would reap what they sew.
And sooner than expected, an alarm rang through the skies. It came from the maw of the hellion he had met not too long ago, and briefly, the man was happy for the fae resuming her life in the Creek. Then silence overcame his mind, as he raced across the meadow, through the trees, and finally appearing at her side, leaping over a massive log with the accuracy of a full grown panther, and hackles fluffed to a point that stood his DeMonte heritage to a beautiful and equally deadly perspective.
The FrostFur could have murdered an angry mother bear, his adrenaline flaring through his veins as the mere thought of the pack mate who might have only just returned, only for her to be placed in the hands of danger.
Hell would be paid for whoever dared to attempt it, and it could only be attempted through his dead body.
Though not necessarily part of her duties as beta, Kaskara now often traipsed the borders at night, adding her scent to the markers along it, keeping them tight and secure. She didn't do this all the time, but it was becoming more frequently part of her night-time ritual before she settled down to sleep. Kaskara had been sleeping in a hollow beneath a tree, but she knew that with winter coming, she would need to find a true den for the frosty months ahead.

It was during such a patrol that Kaskara heard Bazi's frantic call, which set her heart thumping against her ribs. She raced forward, toward the sound, not knowing that her friend had claimed a den way out here. Kas searched everywhere for her snowy dove, her mind whirling, wondering what on earth had caused her to call out. Relief flooded through her as she caught sight of the white dove, Saber already there in protection. Kas raced to her side, ranging her nose over the girl's head and shoulders, trying to make sure she was okay.

In the silence, she heard it. Voices. With a growl that rivaled her brother's, Kaskara turned her considerable bulk toward the sound, putting herself between them and Bazi, ears flicked back in anger. Though she was strong and agile and could take on any wolf, she wasn't so sure about Bazi's ability based on her healing leg, and hoped that another would soon come to aid herself and Saber in this fight.
:D

Bazi had already resigned herself to the fact that she would never be the pack's muscle - as Warden, her duties were limited to greeting visitors.. and spotting the ones that wished them ill. The intent of this particular pair was obvious, and Swiftcurrent Creek responded accordingly.

After sounding the call, Bazi retreated swiftly into the shrubbery around her den to buy some time - whoever the intruders were, they were most assuredly in better health than she was. Stepping forward would get her killed, and running was not an option.

To the young wolf's great relief, Scimitar's siblings were at her side before the advancing threat could locate her. In the same moment as a Frostfur-shaped wall formed before her, their shadowy adversaries became visible. Two vast, cocky males, pitch black and fearless, stepped into the gloomy glow of the celestial bodies above, heads lowered and slavering jaws agape. A far cry from the mangy albino that represented Bazi's single kill, and desperate - she could feel it.

They wasted no time. Winter had driven them to this point, and that same winter would kill them if they did not achieve something here tonight - cannibalism was not off the cards. They charged forward like twin bullets out of a rifle, choosing a Frostfur target each. Bazi skittered nervously at the edge of the battlefield, teeth bared and keen eyes looking for any opportunity to distract the intruders enough to tip the scales in the Creek's favour.
Saber witnessed much to his satisfaction of the artic femmoras retreat, and without turning his glare from the intruders, his left aud followed her soft escape until he was assured by the silence that she had made a safe return behind the sibling duo's protection. After a split second, his ear flew back to its rightful position. And that's how quickly Saber raised a lowered guard. Icey glacialistic irises stuck firmly on the remorseless pair of ebonys, and without breaking his gaze of fierce determination, he smirked, quickly and confidently saying to his sister,
"Alright, sis, let us show these ignorant shits who's land they're on."

And the stare down began. Louder, but with the tone of death, itself, Saber spoke to the pair of idiotic hessians,

"Bring it, bitch."

And bring it, he did. The wolf on the direct front of Saber flew towards him at the speed of a charging bull. Though the size was evenly matched, Saber was not driven by desperation as this one was, giving him the gift of thinking calmly and accurately steering his mind's tactics.

Saber braced himself, thoroughly ready to catch the dark brute with full force. The trick was to take the blow, and use it against the bastard, and successfully, the beast collided with the FrostFur. However, what the inexperienced dark wolf didnt expect, was his jaws landing purchase on air. Saber had taken the full force of the impact, and used his momentum to twist his built form on the left of the surprised filth, and land blow upon blow on the exposed head.
Kas heard her brother's words and laughed, a deep rumbling sound that reverberated deep in her chest. They would soon find out whose land they were on and why it had been a bad idea to trespass here tonight. Without so much as a warning, the two black males shot forward at them, each choosing a creek wolf to confront, and Kaskara angled her body in such a way to defend herself against the oncoming wolf.

The Gladius wolf stepped into the wolf's path, crouching slightly and lifting herself right as her shoulder slammed into his chest. She caught him enough off guard that he stumbled and she was able to shove him backward with a valiant shove of her back legs. With a growl, she gave one last push and he went stumbling back, sliding on the dirt and loose rocks that made up this part of the territory.

With flashing teeth, Kaskara moved forward, using the darkness to cloak her movements, lunging toward the intruder.
Leaving it open for you to finish the intruders!

The Frostfur siblings made short work of the intruders. It was clear to Bazi as soon as the four snarling bodies clashed that she had no place in this fight, and she instead busied herself watching for additional combatants - from either side. None came from the west. To make absolutely sure, she circled the battleground in a wide arc, every sense on high alert.

When Bazi returned, it was from the east, head lowered and teeth bared as she prepared to help her pack-mates drive off the intruders.
While raining blow after blow on the dark brutes head, Saber managed to lose track of what he was doing. And when he did, he turned quite savage.
Saber was half straddling the ebony opponent, a single forepaw wrapped aross the front section of his bod, and tore chunks.
A ear flew off, a slab of fur, and a series af whines and yelps followed suite after every piece of wolf was shredded. Saber felt the opponent try to buck him off, and haul ass to the trees, but the FrostFur had no mercy for him. Besides, he wasn't finished with him yet.

More wolf went flying, and finally, the originally big and badass savage onyx was a pathetic and whining hunk of bleeding and barely conscious wolf. Who even stopped fighting. Saber had him at the mercy of his paws.

After finishing his rabid zombie approach, the handsome tawny DelMonte mix poured every death entombed shard of hatred into his glacials, the frozen irises promising more pain to come, if he was not obeyed. And stared straight into the dulling yet still aware ambers of the dark wolf who was on the verge of pissing himself.

"You remember this fight. You remember how you were massacred. And if I certainly see you attemepting to hurt another member of this pack, you will have less than what I left you with. Now, leave, you pathetic excuse of a wolf."

And as if the dying and half deaf lupine was released of some paralysis spell, he 180°, and ran as if he were being chased straight to hell. And Saber turned, prepared to do the same damage to his sister's opponent, but sat down, knowing his sibling handled herself
, and handled herself, well.
She was his sister. How could she not?
In some dim corner of her mind, Kaskara registered the sights, sounds, and scents of her brother's fight nearby, but could not spare a moment to dwell on it at present. She was busy fighting off her own dark opponent, whose fiery eyes glowed in the darkness. Kaskara lunged forward and when she noted the black wolf moving toward her left shoulder, she dug into it, bringing her hard shoulder blade into his mouth, ramming him backward.

She growled again, swung her head around, latched her teeth onto his nape, and pulled back with one great heave. The male yelped, a whine escaping his lips as his skin was nearly severed from his muscle. Using the momentum she had gained, she swung her head back and sent the wolf tumbling to the ground. Immediately she jumped atop him and latched her teeth into his neck, pressing firmly into the tender spot there, feeling his jugular pulse against her teeth.

He scrabbled against her, using claws and paws to push against her, but she was not a dainty woman. She stood her ground, pressing even harder with her jaws, growling between her teeth. With a flick of his tail, his entire body relaxed and he surrendered to her. It was at about that time that she heard Saber's words to his wolf, and the pair of Frostfur warriors chased the two off. Making sure they had gone, Kaskara returned to Bazi's side ten minutes later, feeling her blood trickling from the shallow cuts on her chest and forearms, but paying them no heed.

"Are you all right?" she asked the white dove, looking her over again. It didn't seem that either wolf had managed to touch her, but she was lucky. "You shouldn't be all the way out here alone, Bazi. If nothing else, come stay with me until you can find another den." She sounded like Scimitar, chastising her for almost getting injured through no fault of her own. She shook her head and sighed. "I'm sorry, Bazi. I worry for you out here alone."
Barges in because he's a worryass.

His paws traced the edges of the borders – his body held tensely as he prowled.. just waiting for Shadow to reveal himself. Paarthurnax said the male had wanted an audience with him – and yet he had yet to call out for Scimitar, so the Frostfur could only debate in silence what the wait could mean. Perhaps the silver bastard had simply cut his losses and left.. returned back to his pack to pick up the pieces he had seemed to shatter of his life – but somehow, that seemed too noble for the wolf that still somehow managed to haunt the Creek at every turn.

Each day that passed, Scimitar found himself wanting the Bypass leader dead.

Yet a sharp cry rose, stirring his heart to his chest – it was a cry that he recognized without hesitance, and his mouth instantly became dry. His large form twisted, and as he raced toward the sound, all he could of was Bazi, and what could have just happened – and for everything to be alright.

It took him longer to reach her than was desirable – and yet relief swept over him as her pale form came to view.. seemingly unmarred. Kaskara was there, and Saber, and quizzically, the cinnamon male moved toward his siblings, noting that a scuffle seemed to have occurred. “What the hell?” Bewildered and blinking, his aqua eyes swept over to the lissome white she-wolf, once more discerning she was alright.. and then made forward to inspect his sister, his muzzle touching her cheek gently. The scent of blood stung his nose, and he felt his eyes narrow in turn as he studied her.
The fight was over quickly. When the intruders retreated with their hard-earned lesson in tow, Bazi was shaking for the adrenaline of it. Kaskara tailed the two males for what seemed like an eternity whilst she waited with the fighter's brother, standing on the tips of her white little toes - as if being slightly taller would make her see farther.

When Kaskara returned, so did Bazi's breath. She exhaled deeply, tail wagging hard and close to the ground as she licked and nuzzled her way through the darker woman's admonishing. "I'll go to stay with Paarthurnax right now," she promised, wheeling round to lavish attention on Saber in the same second that Scimitar appeared out of the shadows - which made her stop and take a quick step back.

He gave the group a bewildered look, taking stock of each wolf in turn - Bazi first, obviously uninjured, before he moved towards his sister. "Two black males," she reported, curving one plush ear in the direction that the pair had gone. "I heard them creeping in. Saber and Kaskara fought them off."
With one onyx vanishing, the brother was soon quick to follow. The pair took off into thw mist of the growing evening, with his sister straight on her victims trail. Soon, the dark sibling was back in their presence, and Saber went to nuzzle the top of her head with gladness.
His sister was back, though it came with a minial cost.

"Beautiful, sis. "

After he applauded the work of the midnight hellion, Saber took examination of the snow femalia, and saw she was unharmed. Good. Less for him to worry upon, and have to expalin to..
speaking of the devil.
Scimitar appeared, melting from the shadows as if his agouti coat was composed of the like. And with fair glacials, Saber humbly dipped his form in the proper way to respect the authority. Then righting himself back to his position, Saber nodded with Bazi's report.

"Indeed. And they received the beating they most likely wont forget in their lifetime, Scim. Potentially just a raiding pair. Possibly desired food, or anything of the like. "
Kaskara's ears flattened as Bazi supplicated herself beneath her, licking at her and agreeing that she would move to Paarthurnax's den that night. Kas ran her nose across her head, nuzzling her gently, before the girl moved to thank Saber for saving her. It was as she prostrated herself before him that Scimitar arrived, demanding to know what the hell had happened.

Both Saber and Bazi answered him well enough, and she simply nodded, returning his worried look and nuzzle with a reassuring one of her own. She shook her head, indicating she was all right, and turned her eyes back toward her brother and her friend. She was glad that they had been able to drive the intruders off. Without Saber's help, it was possible that two creek wolves might have been injured or killed tonight. "Thank you, Saber."
Kaskara was fine, as was Saber, and truly, for that stolen moment, his gaE drifted over in concern for Bazi. He had lost her -- genuinely lost her, the moment she had left to go after Tuwawi. He knew that, somehow, in his heart that she had been partially leaving him.. Whether clouded with anothe rreason or not.. And yet now, once more, he had almost lost her.. And once more, he was in no position to move forward and take hold of her in a brace of concern. His breath exhaled lowly from him, and instead, the atoical male gave a swift nod.

"I'm going to trail after them.. Make sure they don't change their mind about coming back," he offered then, his ears sliding back to his skull. His gaze lingered on the ivory female before glancing away, giving a silent nod of gratitude to his brother. With a crisis averted by his siblings, the Frostfur felt an overwhelming sense of relief that they were here with him now.

With that, the Alpha loped away, his paws as quick as his large side could be at a more casual gait -- he wanted to make sure they had gotten the message.
