Eclipsis had finally been accepted. She had a pack, a family. Then why did she feel so numb?
The beautiful she-wolf sat on her haunches, contemplating her life up to this point. It had been crap, and each day took willpower to pull through. Until this day, she had been alone, with no thoughts but those of her cruel mate and lifeless pups. She remembered giving birth to the two, one a pale grey and one a night black, like his father. Looking down at their lifeless, still bodies, knowing that her mate had killed his own pups. Turning and running, and never stopping running, until she fell from exhaustion.
She bent her head, remembering the pups that never lived. She willed herself to forget, that she had a new life now. Like the setting sun, that part of her life was over. She would find a new mate, perhaps even have pups. Live out her days in the pack, and never look back.
