Prima trudged across the light layer of snow which covered the entire of the forest grounds. It was beautiful, she decided, beautifully ethereal, something the silvery fae loved.

Nothing very interesting had happened ever since she'd she'd met Shiv, the adorably determined magpie, and wondered if she was to look for her once more. Well, perhaps it was the other way around. Prima had no idea how she would track down a bird.

When her nose twitched, catching the scent of a hare, she began the light silent steps of tracking it down. When the animal was in her vision, the two-toned wolfess began to tail it, wanting food before she carried on her way. To where? She had no idea.

hey hey <3 lovely tableee

Snow was not a problem either for the light colored yearling, who just like the pale stranger seemed to hover over the freshly fallen layers of snow with an incredible ease that could only be attributed to the arctic lineage running through her veins. Though she couldn't know it, the way she looked as she picked her way over the immaculate layers of white would have brought a tear to her father's eyes --Cara had grown to be a fine young woman, that resembled her mother each day more than the previous one.

Despite the hardness and stress her duties as Alpha brought along it was in these moments of solitude that the young yearling's deeply hidden softness came to shine. A softness that had been tainted by her sisters' rough treatment as a child, and the many disappointments that her constant rise and falls had brought.

But now, here in the open, Cara was another.
Leaving the weight of her crown and the formalities of a Queen, such as herself, momentarily aside the yearling pressed her body against a mound of snow; sinking her paws and forelegs in the cold material until she was partially concealed by it.

Then, as if on cue, a silvery body began to move in the distance, giving the young Moretti girl an idea that would have never occurred to her a couple of days ago.
But then again, she had not taken a mate and planned for children more than a couple days ago. The weather did strange things, and today it made the young Spine Queen want to do something out of the ordinary: play

So with a high pitched yap to call the other's attention Cara sunk deeper into her improvised hiding spot, hoping that her desires to play would be returned by the stranger ahead.
Sometimes one just had to take a risk.

thanks! you have beautiful writing *o*
(also, forgive me if i'm not doing things right with the playing part)

The hare ran off as the blue-eyed Ashdown slowed, distracted. A light, unfamiliar scent gently floated into her nostrils, though there was no telling where it came from in the winter wonderland that surrounded her.

Just as she stopped in her tracks, a high-pitched sound was emitted, clearly from the snowbank behind her. The mound of white rustled, recently having had a body pushed directly into its insides. Well, not directly, as Prima could still see the other's pelt, a beautiful mixture of creams and browns. The request stated was clear— play?

The silver fae was pretty much up for anything today, so with a casual smile and a roll of her slim shoulder, she turned to the snowbank and began to push away the snow with her nose before managing to playfully nudge the other female through the snow, as if she was saying tag, you're it.

Borrowing elements from the games Tag and Hide and Seek, Prima turned just as she poked her, a cheeky smile on her features, and ran, her paws carrying her swiftly through the air.

-dies-
Eep thank you <3
(And psst it's fine )

During the brief lapse of time between her call and the stranger's response, the pale Moretti tried her best to be invisible to the other wolf's eyes. Even if through out her life she had had (still did ) an insatiable thirst for attention and recognition, it had been now placed aside. She was not Queen in this moment; she was merely Cara.

Unfortunately, but fortunately for the other female, she didn't not have to make much effort to find her between the snow. Even if she wore the same light hues in her precious coat it was the tenuous markings of brown she inherited from her father what gave her position away.

Still, already knowing she had been spotted did not stop the yearling from holding her breath as she felt the other female's nose hover over the snow that shielded her. It was only when the moist surface of her companion's nostrils touched her skin that she allowed herself to stand, the quickness of her movement sending the surrounding bits of snow still clinging from her fur to come out flying in all directions as if Cara had just sprung up from some sort of snowy piñata.

Then, with her tail waving wildly behind her back and her mouth curved in a smile (refusing yet to taint the moment with her words) she lunged in pursuit of the female. It was truly amazing how, by simply relying on body language, the usually territorial female ridded herself of any hostility to simply enjoy the snow with the stranger

The other wolfess shook herself out of the mound of snow as Prima turned and ran. She ducked under frozen branches and dove under leafless scrubs, looking around for a suitable hiding place, though she knew her attempts would be futile and that she would find her anyway, even if Prima found a good spot.

Laughing along the way, the petite silver girl began to leap, covering the ground in a matter of seconds sending piles of brown leaves up and in a flurry. She reached a clearing as she scampered over the snow, and slowed to throw a look over her shoulder to see if her companion was still after her.

The whole game of catch, hide and seek and tag were tiring her, so she decided to stop and roll over on her pack, her paws extended to the sky. She laid there in a childlike position, gazing up at the wisps of cloud.

Today was a beautiful day.

She wondered if the cream-colored she-wolf were to tag her, she'd do it now and win the game.

Without second thought Cara launched herself after the girl, her pale yellow eyes never faltering from the silvery blur she had become; even as she ducked under some low branches and scrambled for cover the pale yearling never slowed her pace or wiped the amused smile that had taken over her features.

And while her natural hostility had been shoved aside for the time being, her competitive nature remained. With her pink tongue beginning to slip out the corner of her mouth she attempted to swerve out of the original path in an attempt to cut directly towards the female without having to go over the complex obstacle course she was guiding her through. However, as she raced over the snow she failed to notice a small patch of ice which aside from almost causing her to slip and fall onto her face, served as a little advantage for the other femme, who fortunately turned her head seconds after she had recovered from her little mishap.

Then, as unexpectedly as the whole thing had begun it was over.
While Cara would have been glad to keep the game going she did not mind ending it either, because as Prima, she also needed to catch her breath. With her pace slowing into a simple walk she approached the her companion, who was now facing the sky instead of her.

The simple fact that the loner, the stranger, would roll on her back and expose her belly so willingly after no word had even exchange between the two seemed strange for the female, who could not help but lift her tail a notch higher than how it had been before.
Anyways.
Darting her eyes from her companion's vulnerably exposed stomach, shifted her focus to the female's instead. Then, with no warning whatsoever she lifted one of her own paws and allowed it to hover over the female's head...
to give a delicate boop in Prima's cold charcoal nose before allowing another smile to take hold of her face.

Tag. She barked in triumph, pulling her paw back to the floor while allowing the whole weigh of her body to fall onto her bottom as she took a seat in the snow, her tail beginning to thump ever so softly against the floor.

She watched, as a paw hovered over her features and proceeded to give her a small swat on her nose. "Tag." Well, the cream-colored wolfess certainly had her win this time, but for the next time, it would probably be fun, games, and a competition rolled up in a bundle. If there ever was a second time, that is.

Prima grinned as she rolled over once more, paws folded in front of her as she sat, a mixture of snow and leaves stuck onto her her pale, silvery fur. Promptly she shook them off. ”You win this time,” She said, her eyes bright with laughter. ”Right now, Prima's got zero points, while..." With a smile on her delicate features, the petite Ashdown looked to the other girl with an unspoken request for her name.

this thread is so much fun! I love their cute and easy going interaction :) cara usually never has those lol

With her pink tongue hanging limply from her mouth and her sides heaving as she recovered her breath she watched the female right herself up and pull her body from the snow, taking bits of the white power with her as she did so.
While it could not be certain whether the two females would ever see each other again, she secretly hoped they would because even if the chance of having a repeat was slim, she wouldn't mind simply meeting for the female to chat.
With the limited number of friends in her list she could always use another.

Then, finally the girl decided to break the silence and move forth with introductions. Prima, a delicate name that suited its bearer.
Cara. she answered with a grin and a swift brush of her tail along the snow covered floor.

Are you from around, Prima? she asked then, feeling suddenly intrigued to where the female had come from.

left it vague since im not sure whether this is before or after she joins a pack
ikr, i really love cara's character! she's just so real^o^
also, this is before she joins rhc:)

Cara. She liked her name, it sounded like one of her own. One of her family's. Cara might as well fit perfectly right into the Ashdown concept. The name did too, painfully remind her of Lena. Had her old best friend been a mix of shades varying from dark brown to light, russet hues, this female had a pelt comprised of fair, creamy colors. Still, she reminded her of of her missing bestie.

”Annnnnd Cara has one!” Prima finished, her tone cheerful, settling beside her companion. ”Good game! Perhaps we shall jump off trees and see who'll fly the highest next, I'll probably earn that point.” She gave a wink, half towards Cara, the other towards Shiv, the magpie that had "taught" her how to fly some days ago.

When she directed a question her way, she gave a roll of her slim shoulder before saying, ”Oh, I'm pretty much a nobody. I've been roaming around these wilds as of late, though I plan to join a pack pretty soon. Dunno, man.” The silvery-furred female gave her a smile. ”What about you, Cara?”

aw i'm glad you enjoy her :)

Again, a smile of pure delight crawled onto Cara's face as the silvery female resumed to speak, her brow quirking quizzically as she mentioned something about flying. Playing pretend-- or playing at all -- was not something that could usually be found in Cara's repertoire but none of the actions or behaviors had been usual today. Why are you secretly a bird?she barked with her eyes widening in feign surprise.

Which was quick to turn real as the female admitted she did not have a pack, but was actively seeking one. It was then that the small voice in her head reminding her that she was not a child but an Alpha hissed in her mind. She needed new faces in her ranks, it was no secret. With her mind still contemplating the idea of proposing a spot to the female, she allowed her tail to curl pensatively over the floor.

I run a pack near here, Ouroboros Spine she barked, deciding to silently imply she was welcome to take up on her unspoken offer, with her eyes alone.

sorry for the relatively late reply! exams have been killing me gaaaah

Prima laughed and responded gratefully to her query— the memory of herself and Shiv was suddenly hilarious. Then she thought of how the little bird was doing, how there next meeting would be like.

Eyes glimmering, she said, ”Well, my bird friend had high hopes in me some days ago, so I'd have to demonstrate my rad skills.” Voice slightly lowered, she whispered jokingly, ”Only if I don't break my bones.”

When Cara informed her that she ran a pack nearby, Ouroboros Spine, she wasn't quite surprised. Why? She was yet to find out. Then she wondered if it would be beneficial to both if she requested a place in her ranks, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. ”So you're a queen,” She said, a friendly smile dawning on her lips as she gently dipped her head. ”Le Reine Cara. Let me know if you'd like to have somebody new around the pack, I could drop by if you ever need me.” Maybe if she could give her the directions or something.

no problem-o
edit:
@Prima -- wrap up?

The explanation given by the female continued to keep alive the joyful smile that had settled onto the yearling's face. It was not often that she came across such stories -- in the Spine humor was crude and the jokes were cynical. It was nice to laugh with another than at another for a change.

Yeah? Well I'd love to see soemthing as rad she barked playfully, quirking a brow as she jokingly dared the female to spread her wings right there and there and do a triple death loop with her eyes closed.
As if.

She allowed her chest to rumble with laughter as she was suddenly met with a response to her previous insinuation. Pleased to be called a Queen, and even more so by a female she already liked, the yearling allowed her maw to part once more into a delighted grin. Indeed I am she agreed before falling silent to hear the rest.
While it was no lie that she would be completely thrilled to go back to the Spine with a new addition to the ranks, and she liked the female so far, Cara was not one to make decisions lightly (lol hypocresy).

With her pale eyes scruntinizing every detail of the fair female, she spoke, New faces are always welcomed in the Spineunless they're useless, she mused to herself as she tried to decide whether or not she should be more direct with her invite.

We are located between Neverwinter and the Heartwood, so if you want to pop by -- or go for round two.. she barked, unable to leave out the playful remark at the end of her sentence. Perhaps she did not need flying wolves in the Spine, but she could most certaintly use a friend.

sure! a wrap up of course, after this two month gap
SORRY

cara laughed, and so prima laughed with her. soon enough that was replaced with a playful smirk. "we'll see!"

the cream female then proceeded to indirectly invite her for a place within her ranks, and so prima gave a thoughtful nod. "round two, a definite yes. i will pop by sometime," the silver girl spoke, "until then, see you."

with one last smile at her hopefully future leader, she turned and departed.
