with the birth of his children fresh upon them, taltos was driven by instinct to hunt for them. unfortunately, the snowfall had forced prey into the foothills and woodlands. it was only by dumb luck that the servant found the thin trail of an elderly bull elk, which he followed far from the borders of his home.

he had told blue willow of his intentions to hunt; despite being a distance from the plateau, the meat with which he would return would freeze in a cache, and he would not need to leave her side for some time.

night swept the land, and with it the breast of frost, which rimed his guard hairs in silver and forced his breath into a hot plume. but his eyes had narrowed upon his prize. the elk had mired himself in a deep drift, but, too weak to drag himself from it, posed an easy kill for the dark wolf, who pounced to pin the ruminant's head down while heavy teeth cut the mortal vein beneath the chin.

lasher, panting, lapped the hot blood cooling quickly upon the snow, hackles bristling as he peered around for any approaching figure before he began the slow work of butchering the carcass.

much appreciated, Eb. <3

Ash only had so many things to do at the Dera, so considerin no one was sick, all the herbs were dead, and most prey were sleeping, he was pretty much aimless in his journeys. Like today. Just strollin, dipping ta water the snow, and more strollin.
Never would he have thought he'd blam across that dude.
OuUu.

A widespread grin nearly split his face at the sight of the dark and lovely dude, and h called out a jovial,

"Yo, Lash, watcha doin, bromano?"

A few tail wags followed his greeting, as the hippie slowly made his way over to his long lost dude.

"Didn't know I'd dash across ya today, but totally worth it. How ya surfin, man?"

a growl came from the male as he was approached, but his expression softened, becoming warm as he noticed it was ashton. the golden youth's presence became appreciated rather than regarded as a threatening thing. my children have been born; i am hunting for them.

gesturing to the downed elk, from which he had already eaten the heart, the beta male shook his bloodied head ruefully. however, i cannot eat all of it. you may have some, if you would like. i am taking what i can upon my return to the plateau. as he spoke, his eyes alighted upon the kind visage of the redhawk wolf, and the sultry mellowness of his common attitude.

"Oh da babes been popped? Congratz for ya, man! Ya got my heart, on the matter."

The Doctor was throughly pleased for the Tal, and the sole face that he had just seen the same he was parent with at the springs, couldn't have made him feel more closer with the dude.

"Funny thing, I actually met the mum at the SteamWater place, not too far from here. Was gettin some hot water for a patient, and boom, there she was, as plump as a blueberry, and as strong as a willow."

The complimental play upon her name, a joke that made his own smile broaden.

The soft spoken man offered him food, and Ash gratefully accepted. He had blondely left the Cal with no belly busting status, and he was indeed pretty famished.
Padded up to the carcass, he humbly spoke, a appreciative twinkle in his foresty gems,

"Thanks, Tal, means a lot."

Food was a gift, seen across many races, many animals, many species. It was seen as an offering of kindness, friendship. To turn it away, even when full, was quite disrespectful.
Ash pigged out.

taltos grinned. yes. they are beautiful. nodding at the other, he stood aside and dug a small depression in the snow, tucking himself into it to watch ashton partake of the cooled kill. it occurred to him that the man would take anything he asked or said in stride, but the man of donnelaith kept his words to himself.

do you have plans to produce children of your own, ashton? he asked after a moment, eyes halflidded against the rising wind.

"I could only imagine how gnarley they flash,"
Nom, nom, chew, nom, chew, swallow.
"Especially how they can brag how dashin their parents are."
Nom, chew, chew, swallow.
"And I mean that, both the both of you."

Ash gave Lasher a soft gaze, then broke it away with a smile, turning back to the half skellied elk.
Ta fuck are ya doin, bro?
Starin at the dead thing...
Nah, you know what I mean.
Shut it.

A bashful look came across the hippie, and he decided to spark up a convo.
Channeling his ears backwards, the handsome dude began to lick some of the good red stuff off of his golden paw.

"How's "
Lick.
"Ya"
Lick.
"Little babes"
Lick, nibble, dropped paw.
"Doin? Have ya seen personalities in the little fluff balls?"

It was then he realized that he skipped over the sweet dudes Q.

"Oh! Damn ta lightning bugs, sorry Lash. Families, right. I'm sorry, my mind is a bit fly right now...ya know, the cold got me goofed up."

The cold?
Only excuse I could pull effectively, alright?
Jump it, then.

"I got my eye on a babe back at the shack, and as for makin da babies, I don't think Fireball would be so keen on another poppin pups that aren't her own little embers. Hell, I think if I even brought it to the gal, she'd shred me, and make a blanket for her own broad."

A thoughtful look came over the blonde teen. What if he really did have that urge to be a dad?
A smile was on his lips, before he even realized it.
<style type="text/css">q {font-family: 'Gentium Basic'; font-style: strong; font-size: 16px; color: #4d924d; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #99C199;} p {margin: 40px 80px 0px 80px; font-family: 'Georgia', serif; color:#000000; text-align:justify; text-indent:0px; font-size:20px'} </style>

dashing. lasher was flattered, but remained silent upon that front. they are beautiful and strong, but i have not spent enough time in their small company to discern personalities. he spoke with a touch of regret, but ears thrust forward to hear the blonde healer's words.

fox was pervasive, it seemed; he narrowed his eyes at her mention, but, because he bore her no ill will, allowed the sensation to pass without deeper analysis. she is easily threatened, was his only comment upon the matter; it was not his place to attempt to sway ashton's opinion of his fiery mistress.

you seem the familial type, the beta male murmured at length, finally rising to continue his slow butchering of the meat-laden carcass.

The hippie saw the dark side lower his lense at the name odd the Dera's leadin lady, and a section of him wondered what he had against the fiesty gal. Maybe a bad past? Did they know each other?
It wasn't really his business however, and Ash had a thing for respecting privacy, so he left the matter to freeze in the cold.

Returnin to the previously dropped 'unable to spend enough of de time to test de pups', the Doctor wondered how important it was to actually be a dad. Having to hunt for da bae. Get away when da bae says scoot dat ass. Finding every single craving and bringing it to da bae. Helpin da bae do stuff.
So mamy things to being a father.
Of course the stunning the awesome man had no free tine.

Him?! A family man?

"Having a whole pack of pups tacklin me at once,, and to know that their all mine, just might be fun. Sometime though, I feel like it wouod be a beautiful love story, if it were just snuggling."
<style type="text/css">q {font-family: 'Gentium Basic'; font-style: strong; font-size: 16px; color: #4d924d; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #99C199;} p {margin: 40px 80px 0px 80px; font-family: 'Georgia', serif; color:#000000; text-align:justify; text-indent:0px; font-size:20px'} </style>

he grinned. the warmth in the den has greatly improved; i lay down among them during their many naps. ashton seemed the sort who would play with his children throughout their lives, leaving the harsher discipline to his mate, but it was only one of several ways to be.

taltos found he was appreciative of the medic's attention to sensitive manners; the golden boy did not pry. it only added to the comfortable intrigue of the caldera's healer. he tugged at the elkmeat, slicing off large portions and swallowing what of it he could, to bring up for blue willow if need be.

it was peregrine's intention, at one time, that he, himself, and fox live together and raise whatever children were born communally; we would not know who the father was. obviously, that was not to be, lasher mused ruefully, pausing to lick blood from his jaws.

in time, which he passed in conversation with the man, lasher departed, with a wan look over his shoulder toward ashton. he would seek out the blondfur again.
