He had spent most of his day hunting and now he was exhausted. He sat under a tree with the light shining on his russet fur. He soaked in every ounce of warmth, rippling and growling softly in happiness. He had just finished a rabbit he had eaten earlier and was now enjoying his rest of his afternoon. He licked his chops and stood up, stretching as long as he could. He then stood himself up and decided to take a little walk. He walked with his head high, enjoying the sights and smell. Winter would be over soon and he could finally sleep longer. For this whole winter, he had barley slept, always staying up late tossing and turning, whimpering in frustration. He had been on his toes, filling the caches for the Pack, patrolling the outskirts of the Spine. But today he was just relaxing, well at least after he got his work done in the morning of coarse. He had slept all afternoon, lounging around in the rays of Sun. And now he was going sight-seeing. For the past few days, he was always camping by the borderline, but now he was exploring deep inside the Packlands. He could see tiny flower buds blooming, which made him tingle in excitement. Spring would be the beginning summer, which would bring many more game and new puppies. He loved the life that blossomed in summer.

The original plan had been to track down her brother, but somewhere along the way, she got distracted. First it had been a rabbit trail that had taken her nowhere, then eventually it happened to shift to a wolf's path. An unknown scent, too, so she let curiosity get the better of her.

Since it took her so far into the territory, Wyvern wasn't concerned about it being an ill-presence; he was, however, a scent she had no name to match to, and he was likely one of Cara's newest recruits. The tawny Ostrega was glad to find the pack still growing.

She skirted along at a decent clip until she spotted the outline of a canine. Unperturbed, she approached. Hey! Hi, she called out eagerly in the direction of the reddish-coated wolf (..? although the more she looked at him, the less "traditional wolf" he looked..)

He had heard footsteps coming towards him, and he quickly spun around, fur bristling. He relaxed, realizing the girls Pack sent. "Oh hello!" he barked, wagging his tail in greeting. Though the girl was slightly younger than him, he looked like a flea compared to her. But it didn't bother him. Though he was only bigger than a fox, he understood that there probably wouldn't be one wolf smaller than him (excluding the puppies of coarse). He gave the wolfess a warm smile, "I was just taking a little stroll. My name's Cedar. What's yours?" He gave a merry little bark. He loved meeting new people.

As she got closer to him, she realized the full enormity of their size difference. For a second it did throw her off. Wyvern wasn't used to standing so far over someone and tried not to drastically splay her ears. Usually she looked up, or others were generally around her height kind of like Cara was. She remembered being a touch taller than their mom, but yeah.. most wolves were not this small.

Anyway, she wrote it off as bizarre and swayed her tail when she was met with friendliness. Cool, I'm Wyvern Ostrega. You're pretty new here, yeah? she asked and tilted her head. She was taking in sight of him curiously, and found that he did remind her of a coyote -- not that she was often up this close to them.

Sorry about the shortness!

It suddenly made him uncomfortable from the way she was looking at him. It made him shuffle in embarrassment. "Yes, I am. I joined a couple of days ago. Things have been busy." He hated to be judged by his size. It reminded him of the 'you can't do it' chants. His ears flattened and he made himself smaller. "So whatcha up to?"
i definitely don't mind! i'm so rambly so my post lengths tend to get away from me in that way, lol

She glanced away as he shuffled, suddenly uncertain if she was doing something out of protocol -- she just wasn't so used to small wolves, so might have unintentionally looked at him a little too funny (not that she had meant it in a bad way). But, his words stayed rather conversational, so she hoped things would smooth out. "I bet.. I only just feel like I've mapped the territory really well.. and I've been here just over a moon," she swayed her tail softly as she spoke.

He asked what she was up to, and she looked upwards thoughtfully. Wyvern's focus wasn't particularly honed today, and she was up for just about anything, so hadn't intended to stick to a plan for today in the first place. "Ah, well.. I was sort of going to track down my brother -- he lives here too, by the way.. then I smelled a rabbit.. then I smelled you next, so I don't exactly have a set plan," she rambled. "What about you?" the Ostrega asked, turning it back on him.

With time, the conversation continued on but Wyvern did not hang around long. She exchanged some words with the small male then took her leave, citing hunger as her cause, for she had decided to track down something to eat with more attentiveness now that her stomach inspired her.
