EEP!  Looks like the content of this post got removed somehow.. UMMM....

HARLYN SHOWED UP, SHE WAS SEARCHING FOR MORDECAI. THINGS WITH THE ALPHA DIDN'T WORK OUT SO GOOD.  THOUGH SHE'D CLIMBED TO ALPHA FEMALE AT TORVALT'S SIDE AND HE'D TAKEN HER AS HIS MATE, SHE CAME TO REALIZE THAT IT WASN'T JUST ALPHASHIP AND A MATE AND A FAMILY THAT SHE WANTED - SHE WANTED THOSE THINGS WITH MORDECAI.

SO NOW SHE'S IN THE WILDS AND AT OUROBOROS SPINE, CALLING FOR CARA. IT MADE SENSE THAT MORDECAI WOULD STOP HERE, IF HE HAD COME BACK TO THE AREA.  IT WAS WORTH A SHOT AT LEAST, Y'KNOW?

^ I might fix this later, but for now I just wanted it to say something besides "click to edit", which is how I just found it :x @Wolf - calling your attention just so you're aware!
Me tired, sorry for crap post!

Lotan obviously wasn't the Alpha female of Ouroboros Spine, but he was nearby when the unfamiliar howl went up. He suspected that Cara wouldn't mind if he took it upon himself to greet the stranger; surely, her plate was full of other leadership duties, and, at the very least, he could keep her caller company until she arrived.

So, swiftly, he directed himself towards the wolf -- who turned out to be female, her coat a variegated pattern of brown hues, though her underside was much paler. More than that, though, he noticed her striking orange eyes. She appeared to be waiting fairly patiently at the borders, so he approached her with a friendly countenance and an amiable wave of his tail, giving a chuff before he spoke.

"Hello! I know I'm not who you're looking for, but can I help you?" he said, drawing to a halt a few feet from the loner.
Harlyn spent the minutes after her call mentally preparing herself for the conversation she was about to have.  That was, if Cara even decided to show.  There was a good chance the proud queen wouldn't even bother with her after what she'd done.  The Cinderloch supposed she couldn't fault her for it if that turned out to be the case, but she prayed that the young queen might shoulder her resentment and meet her.  Harlyn was willing to take whatever admonishment the alpha had to throw at her - as long as she told her if Mordecai had returned, the druid was happy to take it all in humble silence.

Her dark ears perked and swiveled towards the sound of footsteps when they interrupted the quiet.  Harlyn cast her gaze hopefully towards the source of the sound, only to fall slightly when the wolf that appeared was not the one she'd requested.  She frowned briefly, but put on a friendly and grateful face only seconds after.  She supposed she was lucky any had answered her at all, and just because Cara was the one that knew both her and Mordecai didn't necessarily mean she was the only one who might be able to help.

Harlyn smiled at his words, shaking her head dismissively when he mentioned not being the one she sought.  "I appreciate you coming," she said honestly, cutting right to the point, "My name is Harlyn Cinderloch.  I'm actually here searching for a former member of the Spine.  His name is Mordecai Ostrega - do you know if he's here?  Or if perhaps he came by recently?"
The she-wolf seemed a little disappointed at first, and Lotan couldn't fault her. He could understand that it would be aggravating to have some random pack member answer her call, rather than the Alpha female that she sought. But her expression soon lightened, and she replied to his question politely and in a friendly manner.

As soon as the word "Ostrega" passed her lips, Lotan perked up considerably. His copper eyes grew wide and his ears stood tall. Another Ostrega? Here? Immediately, his mind began to whirl, wondering what his relation was to this Mordecai. It was a name he had never heard his parents speak, and he instantly became determined to meet this fellow himself.

"Ostrega? He must be a relative of mine -- my name is Lotan Ostrega," he said excitedly, failing to answer her questions in his eagerness -- although his reply probably indicated the response that she was looking for. He didn't know Mordecai, but he wanted to. "He's a friend of yours?" he pressed, forcing himself to swallow the myriad of questions that rose in the back of his throat.
The last thing Harlyn had expected was to run into a completely different Ostrega than the one she was looking for.  Her brows lifted in surprise when he announced that he too was an Ostrega.  She took another look at him to search for any sort of family resemblance.  There was a bit of Mordecai in the coloration of his coat and in the golden shade of his eyes.

"Yeah, he and I lived here together for a few months.  We became traveling companions for a little while after, but ended up separating," Harlyn replied conversationally, interested now in the polite wolf now in her presence.  "So, who are your parents?" she asked, unable to be distracted by the surprise realization they'd come to, "Mordecai didn't say much of his relations, but he did mention a few names that I might recognize."
Oh no, I just saw where your first post got erased! D: I do like your replacement though, lol.

Lotan had about a thousand and one questions for Harlyn, but he bit his tongue as she replied. This Mordecai she had mentioned was her traveling partner and friend, though she had currently lost track of his location. The young Ostrega hoped to be able to help her reunite with him, though he appreciated that she took the time to explore their familial connection. She could have just as easily decided to move on, since he didn't have the information she needed.

"My parents are Chakra and Youmi," he replied eagerly, wondering if the names would ring a bell. He then decided to provide a bit more detail, in case more information would help Harlyn remember. "They live in a place called Sterren Hollow, a few days' north of here. They grew up in the Seahawk Valley, though," he said, recalling the stories that Chakra and Youmi had told of their youth -- both in Sterrenvuur and prior to that, in the Salvaje Mountains Valley.
Harlyn listened closely as the Spine wolf shared the names of his Ostrega relations.  Unfortunately, none rang any bells in her mind.  She shared a small frown of disappointment, but she set it aside quickly enough.  She was used to meeting those that got lost in large family trees.  She was certain that had Mordecai been the one questioning, they'd have been far quicker at coming to a common relation.

"I don't know those names, unfortunately," Harlyn admitted, "I will be certain to share them with Mordecai once I find him, though.  Perhaps he'll come to see you here and you two can talk.  He does have a great affection for his family."  There was one relation in particular that came to her mind when she said it, though Harlyn wasn't completely certain what his name had been.  He'd been a nephew that had also lived at the Spine once, though that had been before her time.
Edit 4/19: Hey, I'm pulling Lotan out of the game so I'm wrapping up his threads. :) Editing a conclusion in here!

"I hope that you find him soon, and that I'm able to meet him as well," Lotan replied with a swish of his tail. It wouldn't be difficult to track Harlyn down at a later date, as he had logged her scent in his memory, but there was always the chance that she wouldn't find Mordecai. What would she do then? He wondered if she would stay in the Teekon Wilds, or if she would continue her search elsewhere.

Tilting his head to one side, he then asked, "Is there anything I can do to help you look for him? Or do you need me to take a message to Cara?" After all, it had been the Alpha female that Harlyn was originally seeking, though it seemed that she had only been looking for her in order to ask after Mordecai.

Armed with a message for Cara and with the knowledge of what Mordecai looked like -- in case he came across him by chance -- Lotan bid farewell to Harlyn, wishing her good luck in her search before retreating to the Spine's heart.
