Roadkill sat upon the shores and stared out over the water. She licked her chops, which were salty from the water, though she didn't remember lapping up any of the ocean water. Her one dangly ear waved in the wind as she stared out over the water. She felt the wind blow through her fur, but at the same time she felt nothing at all, numbed by the realisation that she was going to end up dying here, alone, with no one to care for her, and no one to care.

She longed for the company of other dogs, since the wolves thus far, bar one of them, had been nothing but hostile, but she knew it was unlikely that she would find what she longed for before her dying day. Her stomach rumbled and she briefly closed her weary eyes, tongue lolling from the side of her mouth in an out-of-place comical manner.
