*shrugs at own timelines to let her have threads in lots of new places while she's out* >____>
Since coming to the coastline, she had hardly strayed from the beach. With her wild fur crusted with salt, underbelly splashed in sand, and palate whetted by fish and other beach finds, she was making the best of her time here. All the while, she continued to cover ground, steadily working her way northward until she was no longer familiar with the landscape and Horizon Ridge was far from sight.

In fact, she expected more interruptions than she actually found. She had been waiting to happen upon a pack, and yet, never did.. no matter the miles that seemed to pass underfoot. What she did find was the cove one had once inhabited, but the dark alpha did not know this. Instead, she found a quiet territory, one shrouded in fog and mystery alike.

It looked like a sensible place to rest until she decided which direction to take her travels next. The time away from the mountain was already leaving her feeling renewed, and this personal look into the territories of the wild was just what she had wanted. But, even she could not deny the distinct feeling of missing her home and all it held that was beginning to creep up on her.

She curiously slipped into the cover of the trees and lurked near the cliffside that dropped off to a beach below, all while feeling distinctly like she was intruding upon something. Amekaze hoped to find some prey to flush from cover, but so far, had turned up nothing. Instead her sights were pulled upward by the sound of wings taking flight -- although she never saw the bird for the trees and the fog.

She continued on, nose low in search.
The frays of Blythe's scent had left Sequoia Coast, it seemed, although Charon still searched for the traces of it, hoping to catch a fresher trail. Some day he would find Blythe, and he would question her about all that she'd said. She had obviously been lying. This place he was at had not completely lost its scent, though it was evident it was no longer a pack. It had been once, though, and that's what captivated Charon's interest. He had never come to its borders, but he had smelled it, known not to go here. And now, just as that, it was just another destination for wolves taking a stroll along Sequoia Coast's diverse territories.

When he saw another wolf, Charon -- in full detective mode -- called out, "Hey, you!" He did not pay attention to the flutter of wings, since he wasn't hungry, although his shouting likely would chase off whatever birds were hiding somewhere. "What are you doing here? Do you know a white wolf with a black head?" He didn't use Blythe's name, because he considered it might've been a fake name -- nobody had ever heard of her anywhere, ever, after all -- and her description was striking enough for another wolf to remember. Charon closely watched the stranger's face, determined to find out if she had seen Blythe. His body remained neutral, though he seemed a bit on edge.
Not so long after she lowered her nose to the dirt, a voice called out. Hey, you! and she found herself biting back a wince. The sound of the wings grew distant and Amekaze let the pale-coated male have her attention, since he had practically demanded it from her otherwise tranquil setting. At least she could assume he wasn't here on a game trail. Not like that, anyway. She then realized it could have been him that prompted the bird she had heard to take flight in the first place..

He was quick to the questions and she turned to face him, then stepped a few paces closer as he asked what she was doing here. She decided not to answer that one immediately. The description he had provided was familiar, so made for a more interesting topic to her.

A female matching that look had harassed her over a meal once down in the flatlands. With an appearance and attitude such as that, Amekaze had not been quick to forget it entirely. They'd shared a small disagreement, but it was brief. Amekaze could hardly say she knew her very well, and mostly remembered the scents of many unfamiliar things and places on the wily canine's fur. Eventually, she nodded. "I have seen one before -- a female, but not here, and not in a long time. Why do you ask?" Eager to see his reaction, Amekaze peered expectantly at him.
The wolf did not seem fazed by his appearance, which was good. Charon listened as she said that she had seen a wolf by that description. A female. "Blythe's female too!" Charon said, as if the coincidence was just too good to be true. It had to have been Blythe, then. Charon's hope dropped again when the female said that the meet-up had been a long time ago, though. "Oh..." he said, clearly losing hope that the female's tips would lead him to Blythe.

"Doesn't matter... Well, I was looking for her. Thought she might know something about my long lost brother. Though I guess Ragnar's right and he's just dead or something." Charon frowned in frustration, because he had wanted to retrieve Kevlyn so badly... But it was no use looking any more. "Who are you, anyway? I'm Charon, from Stavanger Bay." Charon looked over his shoulder when he mentioned the Bay, as if pointing it out, even though it wasn't viewable from all the way out here at all.
He spoke up with a name, presumably, after having caught her mention of a female. It seemed to thrill him, but soon let him down so obviously that Amekaze was entertained watching him rise and fall so readily. She, of course, had never known the coywolf by any name at all so could not say one way or another if it was this Blythe.

Then, there were more words -- bits about him, more names, a lost brother. Her ears pulled back slowly as the long lost brother being dead did threaten to strum her heartstrings. She remembered Kaminari in a blinding instance, and her tireless search until her paws bled and her sister threatened her rank absolutely. "Why do you think she may know of your lost brother?" she asked first and foremost. "When I saw her, it was a good ways south in the flatlands.. but she did not smell like the region there, either and I never scented her again.." so it was possible she had traveled a good way to get there, so Amekaze wasn't aiming to dash his hopes entirely.

"I am Ame, of the Sunspire," she offered with a gesture much like his own, but in the other direction towards the mountain range. She was a good distance from home and she expected him to make mention of this, somehow. He was already rather forward in asking what she was doing here.
"She knew his name," Charon answered, not liking getting questioned much. This wolf seemed harmless though, so there was probably no harm in telling her about Kevlyn. Kev was probably dead, anyway, like Ragnar had told him... But a tiny spark of hope always remained. If only he could find Blythe, maybe he could find Kevlyn, too.

It seemed that this wolf's info was a dead end, because she said that maybe-Blythe was further land-inward and didn't smell like that place. "Oh well. Thanks, I guess," Charon said then, deciding that this wolf's info wasn't going to help him much.

She introduced herself as Ame of the Sunspire, and Charon nodded. "The Sunspire? Where's that at? I've never been there before." His voice was laced with curiosity, and the adolescent waited for her to point out in which direction it lay. He wondered if it was a mountain, like the name suggested; maybe she could even point out which mountain. The world seemed limitless, with so many regions and packs yet undiscovered.
She flicked an ear, realizing that perhaps he did have something. She put herself in his place momentarily and knew without a doubt that if someone had known her brother's name, it would have meant so much. But, his disappointment grounded her in her in the present and Ame nodded slowly, then shrugged to his thanks. Amekaze had found to dual-toned wolf unpleasant company anyway, so it was probably best if his brother had not needed to know her ever and this was a dead-end all around.

"That way," she said to his question with a matching gesture towards the south -- roughly, anyway, she jerked her muzzle over her shoulder. "A good distance away. It is the tallest peak of the range," to clarify, although the horizon only spread so far from here alone. The whole smattering of peaks did just blend together after enough distance. "You must usually stay near the coast, then?" she asked because he had not known of the Sunspire, whereas most inland folk did know of it -- as centrally located in the Teekon as it were. But, a good long look at him and she could see his youthfulness so well, and he did say he came from the Bay -- which if her directional headings (and the information passed to her through her valued outriders) were correct, it was at the coast generally west of the Sunspire.
Charon looked in the direction that Ame gestured in. He could not see which of the peaks it was, but he mentally noted that it was the tallest peak. "I'll remember that," he said with a nod. Maybe he would visit some day, or whatnot.

When she suggested he must not stray away from the coast too much, Charon swiftly said, "I do sometimes. Just hadn't been in that direction yet. I've been all the way over to Duskfire Glacier, though!" Charon said this with pride, deciding not to mention he'd been a good deal younger than he was now and that it had not ended so well for him in the end. Well, whatever; he'd still been there.
She nodded slowly, and carried the same momentum into his amendment of her assumption. "I see," she replied. "Anything of interest that way? I was thinking of heading that general direction after here before I return to the Spire." Since her destination was not for a specific reason, she wasn't going to adhere to a strict plan; it was just a landmark in the general direction she wanted to go, at least.

She knew of that pack that had been there once but little else, especially other places that would be between here and there. Beyond the plains outside of the Emberwood, Amekaze could only guess. If he offered any insight, no matter how vague, she'd see if it would be of use. She was hoping he may be eager to share his knowledge, even if it was just to make himself seem well-traveled for his age.
Charon looked in the direction of the Glacier when they spoke of it. "Nah, just a bunch of losers up on that Glacier," Charon said, his voice filled with resentment that he still carried towards the Duskfire wolves. They had probably not stolen Kevlyn, considering Blythe had lied, but they'd still been a bunch of douchebags to him. He didn't want to see them again. Charon had no idea that the pack had disbanded since, since he'd never been that way since that one unfortunate time.

"And before it is some fields and woods, but I didn't stop there long. I like the coast area better." Well, admittedly, it could be boring at times, but whatever. Still better than the Glacier's direction. Charon waited to see if the female from the Sunspire wanted to know anything more. He was getting kind of bored, but if she had any more questions he'd oblige and answer them.
She tilted her head, making note with a small smirk. Losers, then? "Then I will keep my expectations low," she shrugged with that in mind. Honestly, she did not plan to linger there long. Just pass by to cover some ground that way on a looping path back home, mostly because she had not gone that far north before. Now was a good enough time to change that.

Ame was quietly appreciative of what he had told her without her needing to give very much back in exchange."So I had assumed. Just north of the mountains is that way too. It would make sense to be the same even further away." Away as in relativity to the Spire, anyway. She then did have to appreciate his note about the coast. "The coast is difficult to rival," she replied and nodded. While her own home was further inland, it would forever have a place in her heart. Just maybe, if there was a reason for her to move and circumstances aligned to suit her, she would fancy a mountain closer to the coast. But, such a thing was not in her foreseeable future nor did she plan to make it so any time soon.

However, returning to the hunt evidently more necessary than she had realized. A burn of hunger was quick to remind her. "My hunts must continue," she said with a sweep of her muzzle, thankful for his brief company for what it was worth. This was her way of farewell, and without saying more, she began to take her leave to weave deep into the cover of the coastal woodlot.
Charon was glad to have informed Ame about the coastal area. He wasn't an Outrider perhaps, but Charon did enjoy knowing a lot about the area and telling others of it. Perhaps because he just liked to get attention in any form, be in the spotlights in any way, even if it was him giving information. Perhaps because his childish attitude still lingered and he liked to show what shiny prizes in the form of information he had to share with everyone in the world. Or perhaps because he really did like to explore and Ame seemed nice enough to share what he knew to.

She said her good byes then, and Charon nodded. "Seeya," he said with a smile, and when she turned away, so did he, making his way home as she continued on. He wondered what she was hunting for after she was out of sight, but it was too late to ask now.
