For @Raissa though @Mason is also allowed to jump in - bit of pp, hope you don't mind.

He needed to talk to his mate, his wife, the woman he had chosen to spend the rest of his life with. A long time ago now, he had found her in the forest. He had planned to lie to her, to scheme and to send her on her way when the pups were born.

That time was now.

He wandered into the den and looked at them all. Raissa, Mason, June - they were his world. He thought about it all when he saw them all and finally admitted what his heart was telling him. He couldn't do this. His children loved their mother and he loved her too, he couldn't send her away. Never mind the risk that she would take the children with her, he didn't want her to go.

Time changed things.

Maybe his time away from both Raissa and Bindi had cleared his head, maybe his focus on the pack and his children showed him a different picture for their future. Indeed, he wanted a family-lead pack like the one Peregrine and Fox had. Him and Raissa leading the pack with Bindi and her mate as the betas, that was his dream now. It required Raissa and Bindi to forever put their troubled past behind them, though.

Maybe if things were different he would have to send her away for the way she had treated Bindi but no one was left to remember that now, Chaska had only just joined a few days before and all the original members were gone. It would be nice to have a family-run pack.

"Everything okay?" he asked, directing his question to Raissa before carrying on. "I think we need to talk."
He had been exploring the depths of the den – or more exactly, the confines. Mason yearned to explore his surroundings fully. He had been cut short of following his Father with June by Ryuu. He had not felt too upset about this at the time, as he had been somewhat nervous to be out without permission.

Soon, he hoped, permission would be granted.

Mason looked up as Papa walked in. A yip of excitement burst from his teeth and he bounded over to his father, all tumbling puppy grace. It took approximately two seconds for him to jump and grip his father's scruff with all his might. He hung from his vantage point, mischievous glee glinting in his baby blue eyes, and he paddled his paws at his Daddy’s chest.

Fitzdutiful would soon learn that serious conversations were hard to have with toddlers in the room.
I've had a busy couple of weeks, sorry for not being a good mama :P

Raissa looked up at the sound of Mason's excited yip, a smile widening on her face as Fitz walked in. It had been a long couple weeks, but she felt as though things were taking a turn for the better. The pups were growing well, though still small, and her husband seemed to be opening up to her again. She was completely unaware of the plan Fitz and Bindi had started, but maybe it was better that way. Ignorance was bliss.

"Yeah, is everything okay with you?" she asked curiously, wondering what would have him so serious. It had to be something to do with the low number of members they currently had. Raissa got to her paws, shooing Mason away towards the back of the cave where June was.

"Go find something to do back there, Mama and Papa have to talk, ok?" she told him quietly, giving him a quick lick on his ears before nudging him gently with her nose.
Mason jumped all over his father and FitzDutiful just laughed a little, pulling Mason down from his hanging on place and handing him over to Raissa when she came padding over. She shooed Mason away and Fitz went over to give his mate a lick. This was going to be a hard conversation but worth it.

"I think we can do this." he said to her, unaware that she thought it was going to be about low member numbers. "I think we can fix what we have but there needs to be some changes still. I need to come clean about the fact that I may have driven to the acts of desperation that you had those moons ago by my relationship with Bindi. I don't know what I was thinking but I know nothing is there now, nothing more than friendship." He didn't dare stop. His voice was calm, his eye sight steady and connected to hers. There was nothing but honesty and a raw look into his soul echoed in his eyes.

"I think there needs to be another change though." he said, repeating himself but desperate to continue before she got a word in. "Now the children are older, I'd like you to rule by my side as alpha female. I want you to be as involved in the pack as I am. I think I was wrong when we started about pack leadership interfering with our family if we were both involved. I think I need you by my side. With me."

There was nothing more for him to say. He fell silent and awaited whatever response Raissa would have. Hopefully Nochtli had been right - this was definitely the swing point for them, or so FitzDutiful felt.
Raissa listened quietly to every word Fitz said, watching his eyes and seeing nothing but honestly in the golden depths that she absolutely loved. He explained that their had been something between him with Bindi, but it was over now. So she hadn't been crazy to think there was something going on. A tiny bubble of anger started to fill up inside her, but the look of love in his eyes squelched it immediately. She knew that she trusted him with her life and that if he was telling her this, then he was truly trying to mend what had been broken. And for that, she couldn't be any more grateful.

The thing that surprised her the most was his want for her to lead beside him. Sure, she was thrilled, but she thought they had already decided that it would be better for her to stay in a lower rank to take care of the pups. Raissa reached up and licked him on the cheek, a ghost of a smile on her lips. This was still a serious conversation, she couldn't jump around like an excited pup.

"I'm glad you're telling me, about Bindi. And I just want to apologize again for those weeks where I was hurting everyone in this pack. I don't know what came over me, but I do know that you are the one that helped me get through it. Thank you." she replied, with deep sincerity. "And as for the whole alpha thing, there is nothing I would love more then to work besides you. I would love to be more involved in our pack." she agreed, giving him another lick and playfully nipping his cheek, her happiness bubbling over. Everything was turning in the right direction again.
Mason’s little ears dropped back against his skull as his mother shooed him to the back of the den. His father did nothing to stop the action, and so Mason was left with nothing to do but apparently shimmy to one side of the den.

Slinking low to the ground, the boy padded towards his sister dutifully. She was sleeping with her faint breath lifting small molecules of dust from the ground in front of her dainty muzzle. Big brother dropped a gentle kiss on little sister’s forehead, and then he curled around and behind her, spooning her for comfort as he often did whilst they slept. They were inseperable, the twin survivors.

Mason’s angled muzzle dropped to rest on June’s scruff, barely placing any weight there. With still-blue eyes, the boy glowered sulkily at the two adults talking some way away. His mama looked happy, which was generally something he was used to personally, because she was mostly happy when she was looking at her babies. Mason chuntered a low growl under his breath, the sound vibrating through his throat and echoing until it was hidden in the silken fur of June’s neck beneath him.
Mason went back to join his sister, but FitzDutiful didn't notice, he was looking at the ground a bit too afraid to look at Raissa as she started to speak. He was worried how she would take his words - would she take the children and leave? He'd fight her to the death if she wanted to do that. As much as he loved her he would always love his children more.

Luckily, none of that came to pass. She accepted his words, crossed the distance and affectionately touched him. He felt amazed that she could forgive him - what had he nearly ruined? All because he had moved this too quickly as well. She accepted his offer to rule alongside him.

"I'll announce it when I reassess the rank shuffles!" he said, tail wagging happily and his neck intertwining with Raissa's for a wolf hug. Pulling away he looked to the corner where the little boy was seemingly sulking. "You can come back Mason," he told the little prince, lowering himself to the floor to be more at his son's level.

"About Bindi. I'm not sure how much longer she's been beta. I've not seen hide or hair from her in almost two weeks. If I don't see her before then I'll be demoting her. I don't want inactive leaders in our pack, we need to be strong at the top if we want to keep our children safe." He looked at his wife, checking that she agreed with him. They were a team now.
