A random warrior thread appears! This can be a spar or a "lesson" (for Tezca is always willing to learn). If it ends up becoming a spar I am more than willing to do a dice roll to pre-determine the winner! :-) weird post is weird >__> <___<

With his morning patrol ran and the caches checked and re-stocked where necessary, Tezcacoatl found himself unsure of what to do with himself. He had thought about returning to the bone he'd buried when the newcomer, Mint, had been at the borders, called to them by Nochtli and then had forgotten about, but it had likely already been stolen by another predator, or the soft pile of earth he'd heaped over the hole and called it 'cover' had been trampled down. The serpent king was sure there was a billion things that he could have been doing but knew that unless he was called to leader duties — attending to strangers at the borders, mostly — he knew it wasn't, at the moment, what he yearned for. Though his duties as king were without a doubt the most important he had (at the moment), he was not shackled down, and knew that in order to demand the warrior trade of his subordinates that he needed to conform to his own command; after all he was as he said to Spartacus: he would not ask anything of his wolves that he was not willing to do himself; though of that there was one exception. He did not need permission to breed and thus would not step into the pits to prove his prowess; after all it would be his offspring that would hold the importance as his heirs. While it sounded cruel to what remained of Tezcacoatl's more docile side (clearly not the side that had threatened to kill both Gunnar and Adlartok — both children at the time) it was only natural order. Most Alpha pairs didn't allow their subordinates to breed at all, finding it entirely unnecessary, and in a way the Amazon Rekkr found that he agreed; but he was not so cruel, so long as his own children would not be put in jeopardy.

The warrior thing, however, he could do; had been doing long before he'd even lost his memory. He had taken what he'd been taught from Quetzalcoatl in the Rise to Tartok where he had learned more, and from there despite what his mind did not remember his body did: Ragnar had added his own knowledge to what already subconsciously existed, taking a much more gruesome and barbaric approach to Tezcacoatl's preexisting fighting skills and here he would learn more from the Amazon's and whatever his subordinates had to teach him. Though Tezcacoatl was weary by nature of the Amazon's, he knew he had their loyalty through his mother; and Tuwawi he trusted to be loyal to him for he had known her for a while, but the others that had come, and were to come, there was nothing binding their loyalty to him, and until they proved they could have it and not abuse it he did not trust them.

As he was shortly before he'd make the journey to end Ragnar's life, Tezcacoatl was restless, pacing with the coiled tension like a caged lion. He wanted a good spar, he wanted to learn, to push himself to his physical limits and better himself as the Rekkr he was called.
Spartacus was true to his word and diligently patrolled and hunted to fill the caches whenever he could, and when he finished all the necessary work expected of him, the Gladiator always went for a short spar or a solo training. Training alone didn't really help him in the same way sparring with a packmate or fighting a stranger did, but it helped keep him in shape and make sure his dodges were still as sharp as ever. He had grown rusty on his journey to Teekon Wilds, and had grown even worse in Blackfeather Woods as sparring wasn't expected of him there, he regained his skills when he sparred with Burke and decided that he would never be so pathetic at fighting again. Frostfire Ridge expected him to be a Warrior, all the better, it would make sure Spartacus remembered to keep in shape and sharpen his skills, keep him from becoming so rusty.

The Gladiator was restless, it had been sometime since he sparred with Nochtli and there had been no sparring partners ever since, making the Northerner resort to honing his skills by himself. Perhaps I should just run laps, he thought glumly to himself as his jaws closed around the scruff of a rabbit he had just caught and lifted it, ebony paws skimming lightly over the ground before pausing as he deposited his catch into a nearby cache. Where were all the wolves of the Ridge? He hadn't seen anyone other than Nochtli and Tezcacoatl, and was yearning for the company of fellow wolves once more, even if they were man haters.

I'll just do another patrol, maybe a trespasser or two will make my day more interesting, the Gladiator shook his ebony crown as his paws brought himself forward. Then he paused in his steps, velvety ears twitching, leathery nostrils flaring as he caught the noise of pawsteps and the familiar scent of his King. Spartacus did not hesitate to approach his leader, giving a soft woof to announce his presence, tail flicking amiable behind him as he walked.
For this short and crap post. ;-;

The soft woof, of a lower tone that the females of the pack, stretched through the distance and alerted the serpent king to the presence of Spartacus, though he'd heard the heavy foot falls approach him from behind. Steps ceased, a look cast over his shoulder at the ebony male who had joined his ranks not too long ago. A soft chuff was returned, a greeting as the king turned so that he faced one of his newest subordinates head on. “Spartacus,” The patriarch rumbled the other male's name in acknowledgment. It was an interesting name, not Nahuatl or Norse like either of his names had been. It's origin the king did not know, and though he desired a good-natured spar he also desired to learn something new about his fellow comrade this day, too. “You said that you left a southern pack when I first accepted you,” The best way was to learn about the other male's history and sate the serpent's own curiosity in the process. “Were they in these Teekon Wilds? Have I heard of them?” The king had been in these Wilds for a long time, and though many new packs had cropped up and despite that he had no desire to make friends with, or even let them know of the Ridge's presence, it did not mean that he was not curious. Besides, it would not be a bad thing to learn the going-on's within the Wilds. He might have wanted to believe that it didn't impact him in any manner but he knew that to stay in the dark was nothing short of foolish.

He didn't expect Spartacus to spill every dirty little secret, either. Merely, just basic information; and so long as this pack he'd left wouldn't come knocking on their doorstep then Tezcacoatl had no issue with inner-Wilds migration to his Ridge.
