Burke walked through the woods. He was worried about his love. He hadn't seen her and her scent was vanishing from his fur and from their den. Burke had a frown on his face, thinking that he should maybe look in the tunnels below the territory for his dark queen. Though, he doubted she was there. She was probably looking for herbs outside the territory. Yet he couldn't leave to look for her since then BFW would be without a leader. Burke was troubled. The counselor needed some counseling himself so it seemed.

His large frame moved through the territory. The kids weren't even there to be coached or mentored. Then Burke thought about the female they recently accepted. Ayana. Lets see what her interests were. Maybe he could help her hunt or do other things. Burke could be rather kind for his usually calm and stoic behavior. Once wolves were in his pack he would be much more tolerable. He set out a pace looking for the golden colored girl.

@Ayana
Yay! :D

Time had passed since Ayana joined Blackfeather Woods. Her paws healed quickly thanks to the care of the dark Queen. The female was laying on the cold forest soil listening to the quick heartbeats of the small animals surrounding her. A light breeze was flowing through her coat and for the first time in a while she felt comfortable again. It had been a while since she thought about her past and she liked that. The packmates, especially Lusa, seemed to be quite good company and she often thought about integrating herself in the pack life a little more.

Recently the dark Queen told everyone she'd leave for a while, so her mate Burke was the new alpha. Ayana smiled internally when she thought about her first encounter with him. He seemed so helpless, kind of, although he proved himself as a very responsible and strong leader who satisfied his massy appearance.
Ayana felt sorry for him, though. He must have missed Meldresi since she had been gone for quite a while.
She closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the forest again.

When the clouds started to thicken and the breeze turned into a slightly stronger wind, she decided to get up and look for some prey. Her hunting skills were really rusty though, as it had been a while since she last had to hunt herself. ,,Oh well, Ayana. Can't be too hard.", she thought.
She quietly wandered around the dark woods. She heard some rabbits and mice, but she needed something larger.
Suddenly the silence was disturbed by loud, powerful steps. A wolf was coming.
Sorry short! Working on school!

Burke wasn't keeping quiet since he wasn't thinking about going for a hunt. He wanted to find his packmate and not some prey animal he wished to devour. The large male got the female's scent and locked onto it like he would on a prey. Though the tank wasn't creeping he was clearly making himself known. Easily enough he stopped the golden coat amongst the dark. His grey shaded coat was one of the lighter ones before Ayana joined.

He heard the girl talk to herself before he approached her. "Hello Ayana," he greeted once he was more visible. The immensely large male moving forward, his docked tail held high. "I just wanted to check upon you. How are you settling in?," he asked. It was his job as an alpha to have his pack members happy. Plus he was counselor so if someone needed something off his chest he would need to give them advise and maybe even keep the peace between packmates.
Don't worry, I feel your pain.

Burke visibly didn't make any effort to be silent. Ayana could hear the little rabbit hearts beat faster until they disappeared into the dark woods. The black wolf reminded her of an elephant. He was as strong as one, as immense as one, as grey as one and most of all as loud as one.

"Everything went alright until you drove off all the prey.", the light wolf answered gruffly. However, he was the Alpha and she obviously wasn't mad at him. She wouldn't have had any success in hunting anyway. She hoped he noticed that she was joking.

"Sorry, I'm hungry. Being hungry yet unsuccessful at hunting is a bad combination. How's the alpha life? Busy, I guess?", she said in a way that came across cheekier than she actually intended. Ayana definitely respected Burke, however she had the feeling that he could use some fun in his serious life.

"Actually you could do something useful and help me freshen up my hunting skills. They did get a little rusty over time.. I could use your help. You seem like a quite good hunter, to be honest."

Ayana smiled at him and hoped he wouldn't be too offended. She liked him. He was a good leader and it flattered her that he made sure she was okay. Hwever, there was a reason why she didn't reply to the question he asked. Did she settle in well? She didn't know.
Sorry sorry! I had so many deadlines! Forgive me!

Burke raised his brows a bit, his lighter dots moving up. He was ready to deflect a comment when he realized that she was just joking. He wouldn't have permitted her to talk back to him like that. They had not reached that level of friendship yet. "Surprisingly quiet actually,' he commented, on his life and an alpha. "They pups are visiting Bearclaw Valley and Meldresi is gone and there aren't a lot of new wolves or trespassers. Which is why I am here to check if you are settling in alright." Burke was mostly grumpy about Meldresi leaving. Who was going to give him cuddles now? Or give him those nice licks behind his ear? Or someone he could genuinely laugh with? He missed her. Burke was surprisingly sweet and adorable around Meldresi. But he always kept that in private. Which is probably why most pack members thought he didn't have fun.

"Hunting is rusty? How have you survived as a lone wolf?," Burke spoke. "Here let me give you a tour. You don't have to be hungry at all. We have caches of food, which I freshen up and supply daily," Burke explained. "So first we are going to have you eat and once your belly is filled and your mind focussed I can give you some hunting tips and advise. How does that sound?," Burke offered. Since he didn't have the youngsters to mentor and counsel he might as well try and help out Ayana.
Totally fine, don't worry one bit!

Burke was kind of cute when he talked about Meldresi. Ayana felt a little weird when she saw the look on his face while he talked about his little family. Was that what people called jealousy? She didn't know how it felt to love someone or to feel the need to make pups. However, she definitely did feel a little sad about being so alone. She wanted to know how it felt like to be happy because of someone else's happiness. She wanted to experience the light arousal when looking at her significant other. She wanted to feel loved.
But who had time for things like that? Nobody.

Burke asked her how she had survived as lone wolf. Ayana looked down onto her paws. How did she survive? Didn't she live off her own fat for days? Did she hunt? Did she ...?
She felt the fear mixed with anger rising up inside her so she immediately tried to focus on Burke. He offered her to eat and then teach her some skills.

Ayana smiled at him. ,,Isn't it nice to have some lone time here and then? Thanks for your offer, Alpha. I appreciate it. I don't remeber the last time I ate so much my belly got all round."
The light wolf followed the big, dark male around the territory. It was beautiful. Wherever she looked were new things to discover. Plants she had never seen and caves underneath the thick woods. ,,It's so beautiful. It's so stunning. How do I deserve that? I don't. I don't deserve it.", Ayana thought while starting to feel very uncomfortable again. How could Burke let her eat all the food he hunted? He didn't even know her yet and still he was so nice to her.

,,Burke, why ...", Ayana started. She wanted to ask him why he was being so sweet b ut she didn't dare. ,,...how can I make this up to you?, she asked instead.
Ayana is so sweet omg xD

Burke really did miss Meldresi. He had not realized how much he depended on being close to her until she left. Luckily he had mated with her so that gave him confidence that she would return to him. But she had been gone a one time and he didn't want to worry about her, she was a grown woman after all. She could take care of herself. Burke turned to Ayana when she spoke but didn't ask his question how she survived. "Well you are in a pack now. We hunt very successfully each week, well mostly each week. You should join," he offered. "And about that alone time, I might seem like a guy who prefers that, but actually I don't. I'm very happy being around my mate every day," Burke hummed almost proudly so. "Plus, normally when she is gone I have 3 youngsters to learn about being a wolf and guide them for the dark brotherhood. Now they are all gone." He couldn't even go look for them since they BFW would be unattended. He was stuck here.

The dark male liked to rule with his dark queen. But now he had to focus on Ayana's hunting. They would need her in the pack hunts. Burke looked surprised for a moment when the girl seemed so... upset? Uncomfortable? "You are not going to eat you belly round today because then you can't hunt," he quickly explained. "And what do you mean with 'make it up to me'? Ayana. If this is about eating food then don't worry. I like hunting and I like to provide for the pack. I put it in the caches for the wolves to eat from because if I didn't want that I would have eaten it myself. You live in a pack we take care for each other. And while you try to get better at your hunting you can join the pack hunts with us. You would be very useful since we can use the extra members during a hunt. Plus you can give back to the pack with the trade you like to do. Like babysitting for Lusa, or doing some hunting. Whatever you are interested in," Burke explained, his inner Dr. Phil counseling coming forward.
"I simply didn't grow up like this. I always had to take care of myself. So I kind of learned that nothing in life comes for free. But thanks.", Ayana explained. She couldn't wait to go hunting and freshen up her skills. She knew her words didn't really make sense, but she didn't care. They don't have to know everything about her, right? Or do they, now that they're her pack. Was that something like those "families" where everyone told everything to each other? Ayana always wondered whether those feelings were fake or reality. How could someone be interested in everything the other one had to tell? The light wolf genuinely didn't care how anyone slept or if they had bad dreams.

"You need to tell me when you'll go hunting. I'll be there, Burke", Ayana said while looking in his eyes. They were so deep and blue like the lake. She had to giggle while thinking that.

The two wolves had a quick snack and then walked around the territory for a while. Ayana stopped. She heard a heartbeat. A deer? She turned to Burke. "Do you hear that?"
Her mouth started to water and she felt her paws scratching the earth underneath her claws. She clenched her eyes to see a little better.
She was waiting for a signal of the black leader. His presence still made her nervous, he was so ... strong and made her look and feel tiny.
Burke looked at the female. "I'm sorry. I assumed," he spoke more honestly. He had been lucky with the upbringing he had. Burke had a loving father and mother for that fact. He learned how to be an alpha and how to run his own pack. He got the hardships when he was a young adult which made him a lot more sensible. It seemed everyone had their own hardships at times. Some in the beginning of life and some later on. "Don't worry we will get you to be a super hunter! Practice makes Perfect," he spoke to encourage her.

He let her eat since he had enough already and he didn't want another bloat attack now Meldresi was gone. She saved his life, and Burke really learned to take it easier. The large male took his rest after a meal. Burke nodded and then hunched down. "Yes. I do," he whispered. "But we can't go by sound only. It might be something big so we need to do this together. We have to sneak closer and watch our prey. That way we can learn if it has any weakness. If we start charging now it will out run us. We have to be smarter," Burke kept his voice low. The tank moved forward, surprisingly without making a sound. His body low to the ground, eyes focussed as he creeped closer.
Ayana nodded and followed the male slowly through the woods. She was ready to learn, her heart was racing. It had been a while since she felt the thrill of taking another animal's life. She loved how smoothly her razor sharp teeth could bite through flesh.
The female moved a bit further south to get another point of view. Her nose picked up a weird scent. It was definitely some kind of prey, maybe deer, maybe stag. However, there was something else mixed with it that Ayana couldn't figure out.

Her paws moved quietly across the floor, although she made some kind of crackling sound when she stepped on leaves which made her heart stop for a second. She looked over to Burke, who was slowly getting closer to the animal. Suddenly the wind changed and the scent was blown away. She could hear the little heart beat faster. The wind was probably blowing their scent in the direction of the prey.
She looked over to Burke, asking him what they should do.
Burke stayed low to the ground close to Ayana. His ears moved whens he stepped on the leaf. It could happen that one stepped on a leaf, and then to their bad luck the wind changed. Burke stayed as still as a statue. A deer was never alone so this might be their only shot, or he should learn Ayana to fish. The dark King looked at her with his calm expression, hopefully she would relax because his posture was relaxed. The male sniffed the deer and then decided against it. He jumped forward startling the deer. He then turned to Ayana. "Did you scented something weird about that deer?," he asked to be sure she scented it too. "It ate Rhubarb leaves. Poisonous for us, not for them. Deer in Black Feather," he explained. He knew his poisons from his wife and stepdaughter.

"Not to worry. Follow me. Just outside of our territory there is a field full of deer. I think some even have some young. It would be good for you to analyze a group of prey," Burke spoke. "But you should remember this scent. We have quite some rhubarb leaves around here, and they are very dangerous." Burke nudged her shoulder that she wouldn't de discouraged. A hunt sometimes ended like that. But they had more options and they would head their right now.
Ayana was disappointed. The first fresh deer she spotted in months turned out to be full of poison.
"Meh", she scruffed. It was stupid to try to hunt. She simply wasn't good at it. How, though? Nobody had ever taught her.

But against her will, she decided to follow Burke. It was so sweet of him and she didn't have anything better to do anyway, plus she wanted to be some kind of help for the pack too.
"You know, Burke, I know that I might seem weird to some people ... But", she started. Sudddenly she stopped. What was she doing?`Telling a male wolf she barely knew about her feelings? "Nevermind. I'm ready to learn from you, King", the light wolf said. With those words she decided to keep quiet and try her best. She definitely wasn't ready to talk yet.
Burke stopped walking when the girl seemed to tell him something more serious. The large male might've seem grumpy at first but he was actually really caring. He wanted to run his pack differently than he had done with his precious pack. Then he just wanted power and to rule. Now he wanted to be there for his pack mates. The light dots on his brow raised. "Yes?,' he asked for her to keep going. "Ayana, you can always come to me if you want to talk or need advise. I have my councilors trade," he offered with a bit of a smile. "Plus now I am even mated so I can even offer some relationship advise," he then tried to joke to keep the mood light.

Burke started to walk again, they reached the boarders soon enough and the alpha crossed them, the light began to seep in and open fields stretched before them. As planned there was a group of deer eating from the high grass by the river. The wind was in the right direction now and they were still out of sight of the deer, but they could see the group interaction. "Okay tell me what you see and which one you would pick. Talk the time you need," he offered.
omg, Burke is so sweet! :')

The two wolves hid carefully to avoid being seen by the deer. Ayana was way too excited, she couldn't focus on anything anymore, it seemed like her mind went crazy. She started to tighten her muscles a little which made it even harder to concentrate.
Burke was watching her. She could feel his calm sight resting on her, which made Ayana very nervous, however it also motivated her to give her best. She sighted and tried to look at one deer at a time.

After a few minutes that felt like hours, she finally noticed something strange. One deer seemed to stand alone, while the others piled up in one giant fur ball. Why was that deer standing alone?
The light wolf carefully came a little closer to find out details about the deer. It seemed like he was wounded, there was a red liqiud - probably blood - dripping down the deer's left front leg.
"Burke!", she thought, hoping that he could 'read her mind' and figure out what she saw.
"That one over there seems injured. It might be easy?", Ayana whispered, trying to be as quiet as she could.
He can also be a massive Jerk. (Like he was in her joining thread xD) But yeah he has his nice side and he wants his pack to trust him :3

Burke could feel the excitement of the female. But he kept himself calm. The experienced provider of the pack saw the deer instantly but he waited for the female to see it. It took a moment but she did see it. She even went to look, and then returned. "Exactly," he spoke with a nod. "Now. I will separate the deer from the pack even more and herd it into your direction. Once it is close you jump for its throat and don't let go until you don't feel a pulse anymore."

The large male instantly moved forward getting himself between the herd of deer and the injured one. The injured prey jumped up when Burke jumped forward, going exactly in the direction Burke wanted it to go. Ayana had the wind as an advantage so she could hide perfectly. Her light coat blending with the yellow turning high grass. Burke howled to signal he was close and rile the deer up even more. And of course to let Ayana know to get ready and make the kill.
Her heart was racing, she felt the adrenalin rush hitting her. She immediately ran closer to the deer which looked pathetic and scared of the dark King. It ran directly towards her, the wind probably blew her scent away from the deer. She could look into it's frightened eyes, widely open, just like .. his were. Ayana shivered. A deer reminded her of her dying brother? How sweet.

She ran closer to the deer, hiding well in the tall grass. She could hear the hooves of the herd stamping on the ground as quickly as her heart was beating. Then the perfect moment came. She jumped right up and hit her claws hard inside the soft flesh of the injured deer. It screamed his last scream when Ayana's teeth buried smoothly in the deer's neck. How easily her teeth cut through it's veins, warm blood dripping out of the deer, covering her light coat in the red liquid. It felt good. She killed again. She didn't know whether she would have survived without killing for any longer.

"Dead.", Ayana said while looking at Burke, who came closer to her to take a look at the prey they had hunted. "Good job. You're perfect at this. You gave me a really good chance. Thank you. Honestly.", Ayana said. She was kind of proud of herself, although she would never admit that.
Burke was pleased to see the female succeeding. Plus they would have enough meat for the others too. The Dark King moved into a trot while Ayana was killing the deer. The large male was heavily panting. His alaskan fur was still not used to these hot summers of the south, and Burke wasn't the youngest. But after a short moment of extensive panting he was cooled down enough. "If you weren't there the deer wasn't dead, Ayana. You did most of the work. Now be proud of yourself and dig into your fresh meet," Burke offered.

It was quite the thing for the dominant male to let a subordinate eat first, but the alpha male wasn't hungry and he shouldn't eat as much as he did before. He was still wary of his bloat. "Don't eat too much, you can fully stuff yourself once we are back in Black Feather. I also like to bring the deer close to Lusa's den so she can eat from it as well. Probably you will have to invite her because Grimnir might go ballistic if he knows I provided food for her. He thinks that is my way of telling he is a shitty mate while in fact I am only trying to help. Oh well. Do it. I will watch for scavengers."
Ayana hestitated. Why did he let her eat first? He was the alpha and from what she learned from her past, the alpha always ate first, right? Or was that just one of those mean behaviours her "father" did to make her feel worthless?
"Thank you, Burke. This means a lot. I actually really enjoy hunting, I think. I just did not get around to do it much...My first "pack" was ... different.", Ayana said. This was the first time she told anyone something about her past, although it wasn't much information.

She digged into the fresh meat and couldn't hold back a moan. This was what she needed. Fresh, moist and buttery flesh. She loved the taste of warm blood on her tongue, but she ate in moderation.

After a while of eating this deliciousness, she looked at Burke while licking her now red lips.
"This was good. And I agree, I want to give some of this to Lusa and the rest, too. Let's go if you want?", the light female said while looking atg her dark king.
Last post from me/Fading the thread here! Feel free to wrap it up on your side! :3

Burke was happy to see the female so happy with her catch. The alpha male stood and watched for others who might wanted a piece. "My previous pack was different too," he returned to her. And it was all his fault how his previous pack worked. Later on he tried to work it out but in the end it didn't work for him. Burke was so much happier where he was now. Though he did miss Meldresi. He might go and look for her. Burke sunk off in thought until Ayana told him she was ready to leave. "Alright lets bring the meal back to our home," he agreed with a nod.

Burke grabbed the neck of the animal and started to drag the deer with his bride strength back to Black Feather grounds. There wasn't much talking after that because they had to carry and drag the deer back to their lands. He did like hunting with Ayana too, hopefully they could do it again and train her so she could participate in a pack hunt.
The two wolves arrived at the territry and saved the deer for the rest of the pack. Ayana did feel kind of proud, she was happy about her success and felt good about the day with her king. "Thank you, Burke. This was fun. I hope we can hunt together again some time?", she said.

After a while of chatting with Burke, she decided to leave him alone to bring some fresh meat to Luse. She wanted to meet her pups again anyway.
Feeling proud and kind of nostalgic at the same time - which confudes her, since when did she feel nostalgic? - she grabbed a piece of meat and trotted to Lusas den.

good one, I love threads with you/Burke! <3
