While the newly accepted male regularly lingered on the edge of the Spine, today he set out to explore more of the elegant features of his new home. One he stumbled upon was a massive lake, so clear he was able to see fish near the edges searching for food. Aegeus approached the water and cautiously slipped his paws in to hopefully help with his still injured pads.

He was no expert in healing, but he did know that it stung a bit but his paws felt better afterwards. While letting his paws rest he lowered his head to take a drink, and looked to see something farther out in the water. The male wanted to go out and explore the lake's secrets, but his past kept him from doing so. Instead he stayed put and guessed at exactly what the mysterious object could be.
Tarritut was close to the Basin she would make into the whelping den. The leader often routinely inspected the place. More than any other animal bar her species she noted moose... but as she neared the lake now, the pregnant leader noted only one face by the lakeside. She wondered how familiar his face would become, and how much of himself she would hear in his stories.

The alpha female chuffed, approaching with erect ears and a curious air. When he had come to them he looked worse for wear. Little had changed, but then, little time had passed. He could feast on the meat in the caches to put any of his hunger—if any—to rest.
A calm breeze blew by shifting his fur and revealing the scent of the female he met at the borders. Her chuff was followed by a huff of his own, for he didn't feel like wasting his breath on a greeting. He turned to face her, dull hazel eyes scanning her body. He may seem a tad but intrusive with his eyes, but he was simply trying to read her past.

Scars showed that she had been in a few scraps, and that round belly proved that she was most likely no longer eating for only one. He returned his gaze back out to the lake, eyes locked on the mysterious object once again. A mist settled over the lake, while dragonflies hovered above and silence hung in the air.

He reached out a paw and tapped the ground next to him, inviting her to sit. Aegeus found that these first few interactions between Alpha and subordinate were always the most awkward,  and he never knew what to say. However to him it seemed this dark female was more of the strong silent time, than a chatter box. He was still trying to determine if that was a good or bad thing.
The bear of a wolf felt his assessing eyes, and let them; there were other scars, simply better hidden beneath the thickness of her furs. Once he looked back to the waters, she drew nearer; she could see the island shrouded by the fog, and looked to his face as he tried to discern what the place that could not be seen was. But soon his attention was back to her, and he invited her beside him.

Tonravik did so and drank from the cool waters before looking over his shoulder, and back to him again. They had spoken recently, and there was truly nothing much to say, so instead she sniffed at his fur to see if he had met any yet. If he had not, she was not worried; he certainly would in time, if he mingled.
