Upon reaching one year of age, Koda left his natal pack behind in search of a mate to settle down and start a family with. His travels eventually brought him here to the Teekon Wilds, where he joined the Blacktail Deer Plateau pack and met his first love, Kesuk. A dedicated hunter, he quickly earned his gamekeeper trade and gradually climbed the ranks as his hard work was recognized. Problems arose when Koda's beliefs and opinions about how things should be run (being a jerk) led him to clash with the other members of his pack. In particular, his treatment of Saena earned him much ire from the higher-ups. This tension and animosity finally came to a head when a conversation with then Alpha Dante devolved into an argument before erupting into a bloody brawl. Though Koda won the fight, and by extension the right to take Dante's rank, he chose to take his mate and leave the plateau behind.

He and his mate spent some time wandering the wilds before they eventually went their separate ways. Now on his own, Koda left the region and returned home for a time. He stayed with his family through the winter, but when spring came upon the lands again he struck out on his own once again, returning to the Teekon Wilds with hopes of better fortune.

Spirit River Pack: Koda's natal pack is very old and very isolated, and life there hasn't changed much since the days of it's founders. The pack has existed for decades, and has survived by sticking to tradition all these long years. The pack has rigid gender roles, with males expected to risk life and limb so that she-wolves can live a life sheltered from the harshness of the world. Things like hunting, guarding the borders and fighting off invaders are strictly the work of males. The females are expected to support the pack in less visible ways, such as caring for the young and the sick, or reading the clouds to predict the weather. Koda brought these old traditions with him when he left the pack and came to the Teekon Wilds.
