Grandson of the famous Joestar I, Joestar II carried his blood into this world without ever truly knowing his grandfather although he'd hear stories from grandma Erina about how the defeat of great spirit bear Dio brought peace back to Ripple Basin. As he grew older Jojo trained under the family's close friend Zeppeli and learned to develop his skills for combat; because Ripple Basin was in a period of peace at the time of his intial training, Joestar had no real use for his skills and wasted his strength attempting to show-off to the packs youth.

Over time Zeppeli passed from old age, and his grandson Caesar and Jojo came to be apprentices under a new sensei--Lisa Lisa (unknown to be Jojo's mother at the time, after having been raised by his grandmother his whole life). Lisa Lisa's teachings were intense and two apprentices grew to have a spirited rivalry. Eventually their training paid off when a new threat approach Ripple Basin, a trio of scheming cougars, and though he lost his partner Caesar in the combat Joestar and Lisa Lisa claimed victory and renewed peace.

Joestar moved on to have a family of his own, passing his knowledge to his children. Infidelity (spurred by his own promiscuous behavior) though tore his relationship with Suzie Q apart, and frustrations caused him to perhaps depart Ripple Basin for good.
