Profile of Braegan: Details
Appearance
From a distance, Braegan seems to be a bear-like creature in size and in coloration, but upon closer inspection he is actually a rather handsome wolf--on the right side, at least. The left side of his face, neck, and upper chest are as shocking to the eye as the rest of him is pleasing. These criss-crossing scars are the knotted remnants of the vicious courtship battle that drove the male from his home. Braegan turns his good side towards others when holding conversations, as he's found many are disturbed by his appearance, particularly his missing left eye. His right eye, however, is a deep shade of blue, a charming leftover from puppyhood.
Personality
Braegan is a quiet, gruff sort, with an appreciation for the small pleasures in life. In stereotypical fashion, he is a gentle giant. Yet when duty calls, or when he is goaded into anger, Braegan is capable of waging fierce battle, and his will is not easily subdued.
Biography
Braegan was one of Loch Eoin's most eligible young males. Among the men's ranks, he was a respected warrior that made up for a lack of bloodlust with great skill and discipline. Females would shyly approach him, but Braegan always turned them down, laughingly excusing himself: "the only lady in my life is my mam." Yet there was one woman that had always held his affections: the chief's daughter Moire. Finally the day came that he felt worthy to approach her father to ask permission for courtship. The alpha was an indolent sort who enjoyed nothing more than good entertainment, and so he bid Braegan and another hopeful suitor and acquaintance of Braegan's, Falon, to fight for the honor of becoming Moire's partner.

Braegan was uncomfortable with the idea of truly fighting with a fellow soldier, a comrade-at-arms, but Moire batted her eyelashes and bid him good luck with a kiss, and so Braegan did as her father bade him. Falon was a sloppy but enthusiastic fighter, and Braegan knew his style from training together and fighting in the same band. Braegan was the better warrior, but Falon had no moral qualms about dealing heavy blows. In the end it was Braegan who stood over Falon's defeated form, but it was Braegan who suffered the most severe injuries.

"Braegan, you are the victor," the chief acknowledged, "but I cannot ask my daughter to lay with a male so disfigured." Braegan was stunned at the announcement, and furiously made a dash towards the chief, seeking only to throw him from the boulder on which he sat. The rest of the pack, and the chief, viewed this instantly as a challenge, and in the tussle that ensued, Braegan was joined by a few other warriors dissatisfied with the chief's lazy leadership. Unsettled by this unintentional revolt, and the fact that he found himself winning his scuffle with the chief, Braegan broke away from the fight and fled. He knew he was not the leader the pack needed, and he had not meant to cause a mutiny.

He traveled for a season, making peace with the past, and now seeks to settle somewhere and live a quieter life.
Relations
Braegan's only known relation is his Mam. He only asked about his father and any other family once, but the sadness on Mam's normally sweet and joyful face made him never ask again. He has taken the masculine version of her surname and presumes that Lonáin was her father.
