Scratch originally was born in a town by a river. He spent half his life there until a flood washed away the town, where he lost contact with his family. Alone, he decided to search for them. A few days later, he was attacked by an eagle. He managed to kill it with a sharp stick but was scratched up in the process, rendering him partially blind in his right eye. From there, he wandered around for another year before giving up and deciding to start over. It was a few days later that he traveled through the Teekon Wilds, turning back to it after seeing the storm.
