She was born to a coyote who had mated with both a fellow coyote and a wolf, resulting in a mixed litter. Shortly after the their birth, her mother's Khal slew the hybrids and accepted the purebreds (including Reggie) as gifts. She was intended to be raised a Zafra like her mother. However, when she was about a month old, the wolf pack disappeared, leaving the coyotes to their own devices. A wolf named Reek came along and lured Regipre and her sister back to his home with promises of a better life. However, the promise turned out to be empty; his pack mates treated the sisters like vermin and Reek's mate eventually tried to murder Reggie. She managed to escape but only with grievous injuries. Soon after, a cougar called Shardul took her in as his slave.
