Bastian has always been in the pursuit of knowledge. As a child he followed after the pack medic, learning all they had to offer on herblore and nature. When that resource was exhausted, he left behind his family in search of more things to learn about the body and the world around him. After a few years lingering in one pack to the next, meeting strange and interesting figures, he finally settled down with a mercenary band as the team's medic. It was one of his most stable jobs — plenty of broken bones and gashes to mend — until he was finally kicked out, thanks to his habit of experimenting on his teammates. He travelled west to Teekon Wilds for a place to wait out the winter, and found it in the Malkaria, a fervently religious matriarchial and feminist cult, where his services as a doctor is well needed by the largely pregnant pack.
